@SusieD_LON Only a nightmare if you are a government trying to keep large land owners & landlords happy. Take that out of the equation and it should be a breeze & more likely as the months go on as ppl become more aware of inequalities
A month ago I hadnt heard of land tax but as the pandemic grinds on, exposing the problems within our systems, I read more & more about it & it sounds damn fine to me Ben
@jackalexe@_HousingCrisis This is standard. Landlord steal possessions and destroy any signs of occupancy to throw housing enforcement off the scent. If there is no proof that a person occupied you cnan do anything
Is it true what I'm hearing? That 10 days shy of the lifting on the ban of evictions, that govt have removed the N5B possession application form their website? Its going its be absolute chaos come 24th Aug, even without this latest development
Not often I'm lost for words https://t.co/PeEt8MgTZ9 This choice quote "Covid-19 may have crippled the economy and sent government debt levels soaring. This has led to many landlords increasing the rent in their properties".
@sarahroweleg@TonyStacey Its really important to call this out whenever it comes up, in the same way as calling out "Affordable rent" for the lie it is, so that it doesnt get normalised & people forget the truth
@TessaShepperson Blimey, just as the stay on evictions is about to be lifted they remove the application form. Calm before the storm. I've been saying for some time
βLanguage matters, which is why the social housing sector should immediately stop referring to tenants as βvulnerableβ,β argues @TonyStacey#UKhousing https://t.co/t78NrAIf14
Lovely comment by a landlord on an article about RROs "Don't let that rogue tenant get away with your Β£16000 of stolen rent money, deprive her bloody sleep these vermin deserve no sympathy. Most likely she was also on housing benefits" Charmer
Comment from landlord on Property 118 "vermin deserve no sympathy. Most likely she was also on housing benefits" Not a single dissenting voice. What landlords really say about tenants when they are among their own and think nobody else is watching
@intrinsic_motiv Rent Repayment Orders. The ability to claim back rent for 12 months where a property is unlicensed or the landlord has breached other legislation such as harassment or illegal eviction. The "Magic money tree" as landlords call it
For many years now councils have been so desperate for accommodation from private landlords they do deals with those known to their own enforcement teams. The Homelessness Reduction Act means they are now even more desperate
And of those council homes sold under Right to Buy in London, more than 4 in 10 are now owned and rented out by private landlords. In some cases they're rented back at market rates to the council that was forced to sell them at a discount, in order to house homeless families.
