Disappointed to see this vote happen w/o evidence this will produce better outcomes or save money. l want to continue to invest in public education; that means we need to see PPS make changes based on evidence that those decisions will best support students, families, & staff.
12 Pittsburgh schools across nine buildings are slated for closure now that the PPS board has voted for the long-simmering Future-Ready Facilities Plan. See what's in store for your school https://t.co/Y7OmYQb5hj
It's not enough to charge you an arm and a leg for prescription drugs - Wall Street greed is also hurting mom & pop pharmacies, driving them out of business.

Thanks to all those who came out to this year's Disability and Mental Health Summit and our staff who made it such a success! Special shoutout to former state Rep. Dan Miller who made this the pinnacle event that it is today.
Families of first responders should never lose benefits their loved one earned through a lifetime of service. This new law will not increase costs because the full cost of these pensions were already factored into pension projections.
Today, Governor Shapiro signed my bill into law. This new law corrects a long-standing inequity and ensures that surviving spouses of Pittsburgh firefighters are treated with the dignity they deserve.
Pennsylvania State @RepBenham (D-Allegheny County) goes after Republicans who use the Bible to attack gay and trans people but won't say a word about women and children hurt by Jeffrey Epstein.
"...The Bible seems to recognize throughout it, what many of us also recognize today, that the powerful often take advantage of children and teens. So if you're using the Bible to justify your vote on this bill, but won't call out those mentioned in the Epstein files, reconsider. If you're a person of faith but won't help us reopen a path to justice for survivals of childhood abuse, think again."
Grateful to see @GovernorShapiro take further steps to support and protect the rights of Pennsylvanians with disabilities. We deserve a Commonwealth that welcomes all and creates an environment where everyone has the chance to succeed.
BREAKING: I just signed three Executive Orders to expand protections for Pennsylvanians with disabilities. Here’s what they do ⬇️
1. Creates a NEW commission to help coordinate my Administration’s work to support every Pennsylvanian with disabilities — with a direct line to me and my senior staff.
2. Directs state agencies to go above and beyond to ensure services are accessible — and protect people with disabilities’ personal information from federal overreach.
3. Strengthens the Developmental Disabilities Council and charges them with developing and implementing a meaningful statewide plan on developmental disability.
This week, the PA House passed legislation to put guardrails on the expansion of data centers, an industry that comes with serious concerns about energy costs, water usage, and local impact. Pennsylvania can lead in innovation and protect our residents.
