72 years ago today in Brown v. Board of Education, the Supreme Court declared that racial segregation is unconstitutional under the 14th Amendment.
The fight for civil rights continues.
The direct assault on Black political power across the South has ignited a level of fury that some Republicans didn't anticipate.
This Saturday, thousands plan to descend on Alabama to fight back. Black women are ready.

The Supreme Court just cleared the way for Alabama to revert to its 2023 congressional map, very same map that was previously struck down for intentionally discriminating against Black voters.

I’m so proud of these folks ✊🏽
Alabama Dems have had enough of Republicans’ bullshit. They’re standing up against the attack on their political power.
🚨 Alabama state organizing manager Dee Reed escorted out of the Alabama House gallery Friday as lawmakers debated redistricting.
A three-judge panel has denied a request by Alabama for a stay, saying it lacks jurisdiction in the case which has been appealed to SCOTUS.
“Quite simply, we do not have the authority to issue an order that upends Alabama’s status quo, especially in the middle of an election, while our injunction establishing that status quo is well under review in the nation’s highest court.”
It's official. Republicans in the Alabama State House just passed legislation paving the way to eliminate Black representation in our state.
We need to organize, mobilize, and vote like our lives depend on it.

Stand up. Speak up. Be heard!
Black people in America need to be registered to vote, all of us. Full Fk’n Stop.
In states like Georgia, Maryland, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, turning to vote can shift outcomes in House, Senate, and gubernatorial races.
Look at Georgia. About 3.5 million Black residents live here. Roughly 2.5 million of us are eligible to vote, yet only around 1.4 million of us actually do. That leaves between 900,000 and 1.1 million eligible Black voters not participating.
Now compare that to the margins of the last two Ga: governor’s races. In 2018, the race was decided by about 54,000 votes. In 2022, about 191,000 votes. The number of eligible Black voters not participating is between 7 and 10x larger than those margins.
This isn’t about theory, it’s about MATH. If we show up consistently, outcomes change. The shift starts with registration, and it is sustained by turnout.
Register and VOTE.
The right-wing Supreme Court has dealt a devastating blow to American democracy and signed the death sentence of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
We will fight back.

Chatting with my friend Senator Merika Coleman about the importance of working together at the state and federal levels to improve the lives of all Alabamians!
I’m saddened to learn of the passing of J. Mason Davis, a towering figure in Birmingham’s civil rights history and a relentless force in the fight for justice.
As one of Birmingham’s first Black attorneys and a pioneering civic leader, Davis played a crucial role in dismantling segregation and defending those who bravely challenged injustice. His unwavering courage and legal brilliance broke down barriers and opened doors for generations of lawyers, advocates, and community leaders who followed.
May we carry forward his unshakeable commitment to equality as we continue the work he championed. Rest in power, J. Mason Davis.
Today is #EqualPayDay, representing the day a woman must work into this year to earn what the average man made last year. For the second year in a row, the gender pay gap has actually gotten worse.
This is unacceptable, and it's why we need the #PaycheckFairnessAct to ensure equal pay for equal work!
