Honored to be a part of presenting a legislative citation to Jen Schmidt at last night’s HALO meeting. Jen has been instrumental in strengthening wildfire preparedness on the Hillside and advancing our fire resiliency. I'm grateful for her dedication. This is well deserved.

Mail theft is a huge problem. Today, we took a step towards stopping this criminal activity.
My bill, HB 77, was successfully passed today in an amendment to HB 239. Making mail theft illegal in Alaska statute and giving local law enforcement more tools to fight mail theft.
Last day of session, but there is still work to be done. We are going into a special session tomorrow at 10: 00am to exclusively work on the Alaska LNG tax bill (HB 381). #AKLeg#AlaskaLNG#District11
Big win for Alaska’s small businesses!
I passed an amendment easing costly paid sick leave mandates from 2024 Ballot Measure 1 by raising the threshold to businesses with 10+ employees and exempting seasonal workers. Protecting small businesses means protecting Alaska jobs.
Another critical pipeline bill is in play!
SB180 has an amendment designed to create a more favorable tax environment, to promote low-priced, reliable energy to Alaska via the LNG pipeline.

Joint Session today to vote on overriding the governor's veto of SB 64, the elections bill. SB 64 does not address what I see as the root issues in our elections system.
Thank you to each and every person that sent me an email, gave me a call, or shared your thoughts about SB 64.

We’ve all felt rising energy costs as Alaska faces real gas shortages. I support the Alaska LNG pipeline and am working to move it forward while ensuring communities benefit. Read HB 381: https://t.co/LpcGSFsAn4 #tab5_4

The operating budget has passed the House Floor. While we worked hard, there was still room to cut costs and put Alaskans first. Especially with the high cost of living, it’s not right to ask families to cut back while government spending increases.

Today, the House Finance Committee plans to hear public testimony on HB 77 at 1:30.
If you or someone you know has been a victim of mail theft, especially if it led to financial fraud or identity theft, we want to hear your story.
During the House floor debate on the budget, I supported an amendment to allow teachers to join a Supplemental Benefits System (SBS). Which works alongside the retirement system they are currently in.
Unfortunately, the majority voted this amendment down.
HB 77 public testimony update (4/8/26 @1:33 pm)
