@JustinTHaskins@HeartlandInst@USATODAY@usatodayopinion The staffing budget stays roughly the same, fewer staffers per office, same total headcount. The chamber needs a redesign. Those are solvable problems. The interesting part is what happens to American politics when winning a seat takes 30,000 votes instead of 150,000.
@JustinTHaskins@HeartlandInst@USATODAY@usatodayopinion With 2,000 House members you'd likely get a Texas nationalist caucus, a Puerto Rico statehood party, a rural agrarian bloc, and a genuine progressive party that doesn't need suburban Democrats to survive. FPTP doesn't kill third parties, district size does.
@JustinTHaskins@HeartlandInst@USATODAY@usatodayopinion A 2,000-seat House would probably end the two-party system more effectively than any third-party presidential run ever could. Smaller districts mean fewer votes to win, which means regional and ideological factions can actually compete.
@JustinTHaskins@HeartlandInst@USATODAY@usatodayopinion The US has 1 rep per 770,000 people. Germany has 1 per 114,000. The House was designed to scale with population and we just... stopped. 2-3k reps would put us in line with every other major democracy.
@Allium_369 My money is on the guy who disarmed him accidentally discharging the gun, which prompted the other cowardly assholes to make Swiss cheese of this patriot.
@LibertyPirateAM @amitylee13 Oh no, the guy who won't stand in the way of parents and doctors making the best choice for their kids...
Better vote for the old guy who literally raped children instead.
@LPNH@KMLOnt " who do not match or acclimate the culture of the nation they join *
lol this is why I'm never moving to NH. If if I wanted to move somewhere cold and be around a bunch of white supremacists who hate the state there was already a thriving community in Idaho/Montana
@LPNH Smells like statism.
Don't tell me who I can employ, or sell my house to, bootlickers.
The venn diagram of "libertarians" who think we need strict immigration control, and Trump voters is a circle. Next you're going to say "it's uncomfortable but we need drug laws to stay free"
