Thank you to Yandel for visiting us on Beacon Hill today and for proving to be a great example of the hard work and dedication of student athletes. Best of luck at Mizzou this fall!
It was great to welcome Yandel Morales to the House chamber today alongside my state delegation colleagues. Yandel is a three-time MA state wrestling champion, former Andover High School wrestling standout, and an international competitor on Puerto Ricoโs wrestling World Team.
Yandel represented Puerto Rico at the U17 World Championships in 2023 and earned a silver medal at the Pan-Am championships. He has also committed to joining the NCAA Division 1 wrestling team at the University of Missouri.
I am pleased to announce that the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism has awarded the MA Youth Soccer Association | Lawrence with an additional $22,000 to support World Cup Watch Parties this summer.
MOTT awarded MYSA | Lawrence with a $120,000 grant award in May to host one of many Mass Youth Soccer Festivals across the state. This additional funding brings the total grant award up to $142,000.
Our communityโs lifeguards play an important role in ensuring that everyone has a fun and safe summer by the water.
Positions are still open at pools and waterfronts in and around the 17th Essex District, and pay starts at $22/hour. Check out https://t.co/cQrgypInLJ for details.
Thank you to U-Haul for inviting me to the ceremony. I am glad that this building is getting a new life again in 2026 and will remain a part of Lawrence for years to come.
The 1906 textile building on Manchester Street has been repurposed by U-Haul for approximately 700 new units of self-storage. Some 120 years later, the mill continues to contribute to the economy of Lawrence and the wider Merrimack Valley.
Thank you to CEO Holly Howes and CSO Ashley Cimino for hosting the delegation for a tour of your facilities, as well as to Representative Paulino and Representative Reyes for inviting me to this informative visit.
I had a great time at Valley of Hope Shelter and Recovery with Representative Paulino and Representative Reyes learning more about the services and resources offered by this impactful program.
We were given the opportunity to hear about its Day Break Shelter Services, which is a 30-day emergency shelter that helps move people experiencing homelessness into permanent housing. It also provides food, clothing, medical services, and other essentials to participants.
I had a wonderful time at Hayden Schofield Playstead celebrating the Lawrence Womenโs Softball League Opening Day alongside talented players, families, and community members.
It was great to see teams like Amazonas, Vipers, Trifecta, Xtreme, Elite on Fire, and Bombas take the field and represent the strength and spirit of the league.
Thank you to the EOHLC, which will be supporting the Capernaum project with subsidy funding. I am also grateful to Secretary Matias and the Healey-Driscoll administration for its continued efforts to make housing more affordable for families across the Commonwealth.
Lazarus's project at Capernaum Place in Lawrence will preserve 20 housing units for families who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness. Eighteen units will be family-sized, and two units will be fully accessible.
