Rep. George Latimer

Congressman for New York's 16th Congressional District - proudly representing Westchester and Bronx Counties.

Congratulations to New York Medical College on its 50th anniversary! I had the opportunity to speak at their celebration and honor Al DelBello, former Westchester County Executive and champion of bringing the Medical College to Westchester to serve our community. To many more great years, New York Medical College!

According to the Ukrainian government, Russia abducted at least 20,000 Ukrainian children since the start of the full-scale invasion. That’s why I am proud to co-sponsor the bipartisan Justice for Ukrainian Children Act, which provides essential funds to aid in the return of abducted children, hold the perpetrators accountable, and requires regular reporting from the State Department on their efforts to return children to their homes.

Throughout the past year, I have had the honor of attending Co-Op building meetings to present building presidents with Congressional Records recognizing their leadership and dedication to their communities.

Seeing their commitment to serving residents and ensuring all voices are heard, even in the largest housing cooperative in the world, is truly inspiring to see. Co-Op City is in good hands!

Recent clashes in the streets of Albania’s capital Tirana are concerning news for this relatively young democracy.

I encourage the avoidance of violent confrontation, and hope that respect for dialogue and democratic principles will prevail.

Last year, President Trump promised to restore $87 million in counterterrorism funding owed to New York, giving our first responders the resources they need to protect our communities and prepare for threats. Yet, that money remains missing.

That is why I joined Representative Kennedy in demanding that DHS immediately release this funding. Keeping New Yorkers safe is not optional.

Every second counts when someone suffers a stroke. To reduce the devastating effects of this life-threatening event, we must ensure patients have access to timely and high-quality care. I am proud to introduce a new bill alongside @RepDebDingell to provide first responders and medical professionals with the tools they need to treat stroke patients effectively, no matter their location. You can find the full bill text here: https://t.co/9rlbTnKSC0

At a time when our right to free and fair elections are under threat, I’m proud to have earned an 'A' grade from the Defend the Vote Action Fund for my record of pushing back on election corruption. Protecting our rights and freedoms is vital to our democracy, and I will continue to fight for voters across the country.

Parents and guardians should be able to send their children to school confident that they can focus on learning rather than face life-threatening violence. I am devastated by yesterday's shooting at Silver Rail Elementary in Oregon; my prayers go out to everyone affected and to the brave first responders at the scene. We must work towards a country free from fear by passing responsible gun safety measures to prevent such tragedies from devastating another community.

Mere weeks after President Trump signed a bill placing sanctions on anyone who buys Russian energy products, he turns around and announces the U.S. will be purchasing diesel from Russia.

The result is a lifeline for Putin’s war effort and contradicts our nation’s clear policy of support for Ukraine. My colleagues and I strongly oppose this move by the President and will work to reinstate these sanctions to protect Ukraine’s sovereignty and security.

Where is this American First promise we are always hearing about?

[Rep. George Latimer @RepGLatimer]

As the first African American pastor at First Baptist Church of Bronxville, Westchester native Reverend Lamont S. Granby lived a life of compassion and service. Last year, I took to the House floor to honor his pastoral anniversary, and now we remember his life and legacy as he was taken from us too soon. May his memory be kept alive through his powerful words and service to all.

Today is a time to celebrate Italian heritage and Italian-Americans across our country. Being of Italian descent, I am proud of the traditions and culture that I can uphold and pass on to future generations for years to come.

[Rep. George Latimer @RepGLatimer]

We recognize those Americans whose ancestors and cultures predate the Age of Exploration and still influence the American way of life.

Today, we remember and appreciate the contributions that Indigenous Peoples have made for our country and will make for years to come.

While researching for the Food Access in Community Health Centers Act of 2026, I saw firsthand how Westchester Community Health Center and Feeding Westchester partner to ensure patients have food access. The success of this program in Westchester showcases how every community across the country could benefit amid rising food insecurity. I am proud to highlight our local partners as we work to implement these programs nationwide.

Once again, ICE has recklessly put our community and our children in danger. Ruthless and unvetted agents are wreaking havoc on our cities to meet quotas set by the Trump administration. New Yorkers, and all Americans, have a right to know that they and their families are safe when they step outside their homes to go to work and school, most of all from their own government. I will continue to hold ICE accountable and call on this administration to bring an end to this violence.

This past Sunday, I had the privilege of joining the welcoming and vibrant congregation at Calvary Baptist Church for their Men’s Day Service. Gathering with your community in shared purpose was the perfect start to the week.

Thank you to Reverend Trollinger for inviting me to be part of such a meaningful service!

It has been three years since Hamas launched the deadliest terrorist attack on Israel, a well planned and executed killing of civilians; this tragedy has not been forgotten. I join the world in remembering the thousands of people killed that day, the families torn apart, and the pain still felt by those affected. As violence persists three years later, we must not lose sight of the peace we need that will bring an end to the suffering of so many. The commitment to peace and the rejection of violence as a means to an end, must be acknowledged and adhered to by all parties in the region.
