I voted against the war powers resolution. I do have real concerns about the Iran war. Like many of you, I believe we must bring this conflict to a resolution that fully re-opens the Strait of Hormuz and stabilizes our fuel prices and trade. I also don't want Iran to EVER have a nuclear weapon. And, make no mistake, they were and are trying to develop one. That had to be set back with force.

This regime is diabolical, evil and insane. They chant "Death to America!" and they act on those words. Their leaders are religious zealots, and the Iranian people and the world have been their victims.

Someone had to stand up to them and that takes strength. This is why we need to give our President the strong hand and leverage to finalize the negotiations and get to a secure and lasting peace agreement.

I believe we also need to bring back appropriate checks and balances between the legislative and executive branches. But voting for a purely political war powers resolution with no real teeth, only undermines negotiations and emboldens the zealots.

I voted YES on the Stop Insider Trading Act to ban Members of Congress and their families from buying individual stocks and to require public notice before selling existing holdings. It's time to end insider trading in Congress and restore trust in government.

I voted YES on the FY27 National Defense Authorization Act because our troops deserve the best equipment, the strongest support, and a pay raise that reflects their service. This bill delivers major wins for Beale Air Force Base, strengthens our national defense, and ensures America maintains the most capable military in the world.

At a time when China, Russia, and Iran are growing more aggressive, we cannot afford weakness and this NDAA keeps us ready.

California ranchers and rural communities deserve real tools to protect their livestock. Today I urged the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee to advance H.R. 845, to delist the gray wolf, restore state‑led wolf management, and end the federal freeze that leaves ranchers without options. It’s time for wolf policy to reflect science and the realities on the ground.

Canada should stop following California’s failed playbook before more communities go up in smoke.
