@JakeVigdor@UW Great job reviewing "how a bill becomes a law" and guide for being effective in developing and passing a bill in WA! Our bill was 1st in US - and still only state ending Pass the Harasser. So, open to closing any loopholes found.
A new effort to help save local news, from WA AG Bob Ferguson. This year, the Legislature faces a choice between saving democracy or allowing french fry manufacturers to keep paying zero B&O tax. https://t.co/TxOy5Q7hiu via @seattletimes
It's important for me to hear the realities in order to fight to fully fund basic ed. SPS is underfunded an incredible $100 million from the State for special education, requiring the use of levy funds. That's a reason why SEA must care so much about sp ed, social worker ratios
At Eckstein Middle School today with our striking educators. 34 and 35 students in science and English classes is NOT ok. A single school social worker in a time of dire need - who is half paid for by parents' fundraising and not the State and School District. That's not ok.
KING5 cont'd:
“Sadly, this agreement is a dereliction of Washington state’s duty to protect our Columbia River and groundwater from high-level nuclear waste. If the state can't enforce our environmental waste laws, its up to the public and the tribes to enforce...” Pollet said."
KING5: The current retrieval date is scheduled for two decades from now, although state and federal law says if a tank is leaking nuclear waste, it must be pumped immediately...whenever is feasible. Pollet is the legislature’s top authority on Hanford. He said he is “heartbroken”
2nd nite invited to table at Bonnie Raitt's concert at Ste Michelle. Last nite, Rod Dembowski was among the many who came over to our table on Hanford's leaking High Level Nuclear Waste.
I'm looking forward to continuing to serve you - from continuing to improve education, leading on fighting climate change and protecting our environment, ensuring we respond to COVID based on public health science, increasing our supply of affordable housing... and much more.
