I am proud to have helped secure $40 million in funding for the City of Racine to replace every single lead service line at no cost to residents.

Like many households, my drinking water runs through lead pipes, and with my first daughter on the way, I know how urgent replacing these pipes is.

As we face economic uncertainty and chaos from the Trump administration, we have to be fiscally responsible. We must also remain committed to long term solutions for our schools and communities, like ending the cycle of referendums and funding special ed at an adequate level.

Assembly Democrats show up to work every day focused on doing right by the communities we represent. That meant each of us had to make a difficult decision this week.

It could have put our state in a very difficult financial position in only a few short years, with the potential for cuts to education, healthcare, and other essential services.
