Most Republicans didn't hold town halls this week because they were scared to face their constituents. I wanted to hear from the people I represent. Here are some of the stories shared at my Town Hall:

FINALLY. Today, House Democrats successfully pushed through our effort to stop Trump’s reckless and unpopular war with Iran – despite Republicans and Speaker Johnson who repeatedly tried to avoid this critical vote.

Trump’s war has already cost taxpayers billions, driven extreme gas price hikes, and taken the lives of U.S. service members and civilians. But most Republicans would rather bend the knee to Trump than help families here at home.

Democrats’ War Powers Resolution is an important step – but we need to keep the pressure up, reassert congressional oversight on this unhinged president, and emphasize that the American people do not support Trump’s war.

Had a great time touring the St. Francis Center, a vital resource providing essential services and affordable housing for local families, @City_EPA where I secured $600,000 for a flood protection study along San Francisquito Creek, and Quilt, an innovative company developing more climate-friendly HVAC systems for homes. #diml

Earlier this week, I made an unannounced visit to an ICE detention center in California City to conduct oversight with my colleagues @RepZoeLofgren, @RepLuzRivas & @Rep_Whitesides. There are over 1,600 civil detainees being held in prison-like conditions with inadequate access to mental health care and asylum judges. America needs a more humane and reformed immigration system NOW.

My heart goes out to the victims of the devastating shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, and I am keeping the victims, their families, and the entire community in my thoughts. No one should ever have to fear for their safety when gathering in a place of worship, and acts of hate and violence like this have no place in our society.

Security Guard Amin Abdullah was incredibly brave and gave his life to help protect countless others, and I commend the swift response from local law enforcement and first responders.

Thank you to @Samaritan_House San Mateo for all the work you do to support our community, including running the Safe Harbor Shelter in South San Francisco, which I recently visited. Helping the unhoused with wrap-around services is essential to getting them stabilized and into permanent housing.
