According to NAEP, only one in three of our fourth graders is a proficient reader, meaning 67% of children are struggling with a foundational skill that shapes every future opportunity. Literacy matters!
That's why I was proud to speak at a press conference hosted by the Pennsylvania Literacy Coalition. If we invest now, we won’t just improve reading scores. We will strengthen our economy, uplift communities, and open doors for an entire generation of Pennsylvania’s children.

Fun Fact - if you walk down the House hallway you'll see portraits of all the former Speakers of the House! A fun way to honor another piece of our Commonwealth's history.
Bright & early this morning at Elmwood Academy! Thank you to the teachers & students for the warm welcome… I always enjoy opportunities to connect with our young learners & support programs that encourage a love of reading from an early age.
Today, my colleagues House Majority Leader Matt Bradford, House Republican Leader Jesse Topper, Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa & I issued a statement condemning threats against the General Assembly. Political violence has no place in our Commonwealth. #PAHouse#MadameSpeaker
We must reject all political violence. All on this list are colleagues & many of them are my friends. Political differences should be debated & settled at the ballot box. Totalitarian regimes have enemy lists. We are America. 🇺🇸 🙏 https://t.co/4WWDPhGTyK
I’m grateful for our law enforcement who investigate these threats, and Allie and I continue to pray for the safety of public officials—of every political affiliation—and share a hope that one day we will defeat all those who wish to resolve our differences through violence.
Political violence is absolutely and unequivocally not acceptable in any form. I’m angered by those who see threats of violence as a means to effect change. When we lose sight of the humanity of those who disagree with us, we let barbaric extremism win.

Ryan Atrium part two - but this time you get to take in all the views. If you don't want to hear my commentary, watching the video on it's own is a very etherial experience, but if you're into the fun facts, volume up!
Transparency, authenticity, & honesty are such important requirements for anybody working in politics. When you're sharing information, regardless of who your audience is, if you're not being straight-forward, you can't expect people to put their trust in your leadership.
Ryan Atrium Tour!! I'm beating a dead horse, but if you visit the Cumberland County/Harrisburg region, you absolutely need to make the Ryan Atrium a stop on your trip. There are many beautiful areas in our State Capitol building, but Ryan ranks as a top contender.
The most effective work in politics happens when we work together. Someone with an opposing view is not your enemy, but rather an invitation for thoughtful discussion on real policy. When we work together, we achieve more - it's that simple.
Today, I had the opportunity to welcome the Cumberland Valley Youth Basketball Association’s sixth-grade team to the Capitol as we celebrated their 2026 Pennsylvania Middle School Basketball State Championship victory. Competing against some of the top teams in the state, Cumberland Valley finished the tournament undefeated with a perfect 6–0 record to bring home the title.
This championship marks the program’s second state title in just three years; an incredible accomplishment that reflects the hard work, talent, and dedication of both the players and coaches. It was an honor to congratulate the team and present them with House citations recognizing their outstanding achievement.
What a session day actually looks like: a full schedule from start to finish, capped off with the walk back to the garage. Long days, busy agendas, and a routine that repeats all week while we’re in session. Same time tomorrow!!
The WellSpan Carlisle Hospital is now open! Located at 1201 Letort Springs Way, the new hospital will offer care for life-threatening emergencies and other acute needs. This hospital has 10 emergency department beds and 10 inpatient beds. It is great to have a new health care asset in our area!
Happy Teacher Appreciation Day to the people who shape futures long before the rest of the world ever sees the results! As the son of a special education teacher, I’ve seen firsthand the patience, compassion, and relentless dedication this job demands. It’s not just lesson plans and long hours; it’s advocacy, creativity, and showing up every single day for students who need someone in their corner.
