Fire departments across Upstate New York are paying more, getting less, and waiting longer for the equipment they need.

@MayorKraham sounded the alarm on this issue, and together we joined the IAFF in demanding answers about whether anti-competitive practices are driving up costs and putting public safety at risk.

If DOJ and FTC won't do their jobs, I'll force the issue.

Living up to the promise of Never Forget means making sure that 9/11 survivors and first responders get the best care possible.

That’s why I’m calling on @SecKennedy to expand the cancer screenings covered by the World Trade Center Health Program. It’s the least we can do to make these lifesaving tests available to those who were on the frontlines during America’s darkest day.

Growing up down the street from the Cider Mill, I learned early on that Upstate New York grows the best apples in the world. But after a brutal spring freeze devastated this year’s crops, our local apple growers are hurting.

That’s why I fought to make sure the Farm Bill includes real fixes to make crop insurance work for Upstate apple growers and establishes a specialty crop emergency framework to help our family orchards bounce back.

Upstate firefighters put their lives on the line for us every day.

They shouldn’t have to overpay for lifesaving equipment because a handful of companies have rigged the system.

That’s why I joined the Binghamton Fire Department today. If a system is making it harder for firefighters to protect our communities, then it’s time to fix it.

Not-so-fun fact: most honey in supermarkets isn’t real – it’s overly processed, adulterated junk. That’s bad for consumers, and it’s even worse for Upstate New York’s apiaries like Kutik’s.

My bipartisan Honey Integrity Act – which passed as part of this year’s Farm Bill – would update labelling standards to make sure that only real honey gets to be called honey.

Growing up in Endicott, I saw firsthand what happens when companies close plants and ship jobs overseas to pad their bottom line. Right now, our tax code rewards them for doing exactly that.

I'm proud to co-sponsor the No Tax Breaks for Outsourcing Act — because companies that invest in our communities should be rewarded, and corporations that ship jobs overseas shouldn't get a dime from American taxpayers.
