Property Taxes are out of control and Relief is overdue! The House was able to at least pass a relief bill, but the Senate wouldn’t have anything to do with it. We still have special sessions coming but…
Another Option - bring this issue straight to the people.
On April 1st, 2026 I announced an effort to pass a citizen constitutional amendment that bans ad valorem taxes on real estate levied by any level of government.
This is the Full Press Conference from the 4th Floor Rotunda of the Florida State Capitol

Big news, Florida: property tax relief is heading to the ballot. 🗳️
That’s not the finish line — that’s the starting gun. The road to total elimination of property taxes for homeowners begins right here, right now.
First steps are the hardest. Good thing we didn’t come here to take the easy ones. Time to work.
Not quite there, but we are making progress toward total elimination of property taxes, and a special session is a great first step.
I look forward to gaveling in with the Speaker next week to continue moving forward with the effort to make us the Property Tax Free State of Florida.
Today in Tampa, I outlined the Save Our Homes from Excessive Property Taxes plan that will eliminate taxes on homesteads.
Property tax revenue collected by local governments has nearly doubled in the past seven years (from $32 billion to $60 billion) and is expected to reach an astounding $83 billion by 2032.
Florida homeowners need relief. Now is the time to stand up for taxpayers, enact a historic reform, and save the home of every Floridian.
Tuesday I had the privilege of representing Marion County at the White House State leadership conference for Florida.
Friends, it is true, the rest of this nation depends on and is watching what-Florida-does.
Property Taxes will be Gone for Good - Let's keep driving!
I'm thankful for the Governor (@RonDeSantis) and the Speaker of the House (@Daniel_PerezFL) for helping drive the property tax conversation in 2026.
If we can get something on the Ballot - I'm all in. But if we can't....
We must continue to drive this conversation forward until property taxes in Florida are GONE for GOOD.
In Washington D.C. - Monday evening I really enjoyed getting to know and have dinner with the Ambassador of Mexico 🇲🇽 to the United States 🇺🇸 - @emoctezumab.
It is good to see the progress working with President @realDonaldTrump
Time to ELIMINATE Homestead Property Taxes!
> Last year Florida collected roughly 18 billion dollars through liens on our residents’ primary home.
> In just the past 4 years, property tax revenues have increased by almost this amount.
> So if all we did was quickly ELIMINATE homestead properties from the tax roll, we would just be taking us back to the same revenue levels of a few years ago.
> It’s almost embarrassing that any elected official would ever be against this.
No More Property Tax - Local BUSINESS should not have to pay rent to the government either!
Government should not LIEN your property. If you've owned a business for the past 30 years why in the world are you still required to pay property taxes.
There is a BETTER WAY to generate the revenue rather than you renting your property from the government.
The PLAN - Rollback, Eliminate, and then Replace with a better transactional system. All while providing the largest TAX cut in history and allowing Florida to be the 1st state where you can truly own your property!
Eliminating Property Taxes will create Panic!
...but for the first time, it will be government panicking over how they’re going to deal with no property taxes instead of all of the homeowners and small businesses of this state panicking over how they’re going to pay their property taxes.
Property Taxes are Killing the American Dream!
It wasn’t too long ago that the average age in Florida for a first-time home buyer was 29 years old.
Today it is over 40 and rising.
And with Property Taxes having risen by over 50% just in the last 4 years, it is going to become even more difficult in the future.
This is unsustainable and is robbing our next generation of the American Dream.
Thank you to everyone from Marion County who made the trip to Tallahassee for Wednesday’s Property Tax Press Conference.
It means a lot to see our community show up, stay engaged, and be part of the conversation. Your support and involvement play a key role as we continue working toward meaningful property tax reform.

Proud to have sponsored House Ceremonial Resolution 8103 to designate May 10, 2026, as First Responders Mental Health Awareness Day in Florida.
Our law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and dispatchers face unimaginable stress and trauma in the line of duty. While they work tirelessly to protect our communities, we must also ensure they have the support, resources, and encouragement they need to care for their own mental health.
This resolution is about breaking the stigma, promoting access to critical services, and sending a clear message: taking care of your mental health is a sign of strength. To all of our first responders — thank you for your sacrifice, your courage, and your unwavering commitment to keeping Florida safe. We stand with you.
