Rep. Summer Lee

Representing Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District. Member of @HouseJudiciary and @EdWorkforceDems.

The cost of living is too high & Black families across Pittsburgh are feeling the pressure. From rising housing costs to healthcare, working people are being asked to do more with less.

I’m grateful to Dr. Asa Lee & Pittsburgh’s Black clergy for making space for this important conversation. Our policies must reflect the realities people are facing every day, & that starts with listening to the communities most impacted.

[Rep. Summer Lee @RepSummerLee]

The fight for voting rights is far from over. Disenfranchisement efforts by SCOTUS and Republicans continue to threaten Black representation and undermine the progress we’ve fought so hard for.

We cannot afford to sit back while generations of progress are rolled back. We have to keep organizing and fighting.

Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home.

I’m proud to have helped bring millions in federal funding back to Allegheny County for affordable housing. But building more homes is only part of the solution. We must also strenghten tenants' rights, stop Wall Street investors from buying up our homes, and ensure working families aren't getting priced out.

[Rep. Summer Lee @RepSummerLee]

It was great to join @SenPisciottano & @RepGoughnour for the 2026 Senior Wellness and Safety Expo in McKeesport.

Our seniors deserve access to the resources & support they need to live healthy. Thank you to everyone working to serve our Mon Valley community.

[Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib @RepRashida]

We’re saying NO to the “permitting reform” deal.

Despite broad disgust with data centers & pipelines, the deal guts key laws to accelerate dirty energy projects. It fails to protect us from soaring energy costs & pollution.

Congress must reject this gift to Big Oil & Big Tech.

[Rep. Summer Lee @RepSummerLee]

Trump and Republicans cut Medicaid and refused to extend the ACA tax credits. Now, health insurance premiums are expected to climb again in 2027.

Working families cannot keep absorbing higher costs while their paychecks fall behind. We need to lower premiums, protect Medicaid, and make healthcare affordable and accessible for everyone.

[CNN @CNN]

Premiums are expected to skyrocket for the fourth year in a row, and employees will likely pay more when they receive care, too. The increased costs will put an additional squeeze on Americans' already-tight budgets, adding to the nation's affordability crisis. https://t.co/fgpqW5A6lB

Allegheny County set the standard and made history with the first county-level paid parental leave policy in the country.

This victory reflects the power of organizing and advocacy. No parent should have to choose between a paycheck and caring for their newborn. Now it's time to guarantee paid family and medical leave for every worker, in every county, in every state.

[Rep. Summer Lee @RepSummerLee]

I met with the Pittsburgh Anti-War Committee to hear from community members calling for an end to the war with Iran.

We cannot continue pouring resources into Trump's illegal war that costs innocent lives and billions of taxpayer dollars. No more endless wars.

[Rep. Summer Lee @RepSummerLee]

Beechview is one of Pittsburgh's most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods that's been shaped and strengthened by generations of immigrants and working families.

I was proud to celebrate Casa San Jose’s new Latino Resource and Welcome Center, which will expand access to healthcare, mental health services, and critical resources for immigrant families. Everyone deserves a place where they feel welcome and supported.

.@modulehousing is a manufacturing startup building modular housing that folks can afford—piece by piece, floor by floor—right here on a site in Scott Township.

I visited with @RepSummerLee on Friday to see how Western PA is driving to restore the American Dream—one home at a time. 💪

AI innovation cannot come at the expense of our communities.

Data centers should not continue to be built while frontline communities are left to deal with the consequences. We need safeguards that put people, our environment, and our future first.

Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to call home.

At the One Roof Housing Resource Fair in Homestead, I heard directly from residents and housing advocates about the barriers keeping people from stable housing.

We need stronger tenant protections, accountability for corporate landlords, and investments that make housing available to all.

[Rep. Summer Lee @RepSummerLee]

The future of manufacturing in Western PA must include investments in our workforce.

I toured Ebara Elliott Energy in Jeannette to meet the USW Local 1145 workers who keep the facility running and to learn about their sustainability goals in manufacturing operations, such as reducing emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

Our workers deserve to be at the center of conversations about our region’s future.

[Rep. Summer Lee @RepSummerLee]

Public dollars should go toward building up our communities.

I'm proud to present $850,000 in federal funding for West Mifflin’s new community recreation and wellness center. Folks in West Mifflin deserve a space where kids can grow, seniors can stay active, and families have somewhere to come together—right in their own backyards.

Grateful to our borough leaders and state partners for helping bring us this far and look forward to seeing how this space transforms generations to come.

[Rep. Summer Lee @RepSummerLee]

Trump targeting Pitt and its international scholars does nothing to strengthen our communities or our country. Scapegoating immigrants won't build a stronger future.

Maybe this administration should spend less time hating immigrants and more time protecting workers' rights.

Today, on #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we honor Indigenous communities & celebrate the traditions that have been passed down for generations.

We reaffirm our commitment to Indigenous sovereignty, self-determination, & a future where all Indigenous voices are heard.

Trump has attacked @Ilhan for years. He is vindictive, hateful, and abusive of power.

This baseless raid was meant to intimidate and silence her and the communities she represents.

Rep. Omar continues to stand on the right side of history, and we’re right there with her.

[Rep. Ilhan Omar @Ilhan]

The Office of Congresswoman Omar released the following statement:

“This raid by Trump’s DHS is an outrageous abuse of power and an unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies. For a decade, Donald Trump has relentlessly targeted Congresswoman Ilhan Omar with inflammatory rhetoric, repeatedly putting a target on her back. Now, those attacks have escalated to a pointless federal raid. The Congresswoman has done nothing wrong. No president should be able to use the power of the federal government to intimidate his political enemies.”
