Thank you, Senator Mack Bernard, Representative Marie Woodson and Representative Debra Tendrich, for supporting Recovery, Stronger Families and Mental Wellness this #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth
Our Florida Heiken Children’s Vision Program mobile eye care units provide free comprehensive eye exams and eyeglasses to financially disadvantaged children in need across the state of Florida. On a recent visit to Barton Elementary School, our Heiken team provided 35 students with free comprehensive eye exams, and of those students whose eyes were tested, 28 will receive free prescription glasses from Heiken. 👏🚚
Special guest Florida Representative Debra Tendrich @DebraForHouse stopped by to cheer on our Heiken team, optometrist Dr. Tanzila Rahman, optometric technician Carmen Arguijo, and Christian Fernandez, during their visit. Thank you, Representative Tendrich, for supporting Florida Heiken! 👁️👓
Supporting our Florida Heiken Children's Vision Program contributes to children's success, helping them gain the confidence of knowing that they can see well and participate in school and life like the rest of their classmates, despite their vision impairment.💙 @pbcsd@BartonChargers
We encourage Florida residents to reach out to their county's elected officials to urge them to support the Florida Heiken Children's Vision Program's continued funding! 📢

WEAK MEN
Weak men are a plague on society. Their insecurities destroy organizations, ruin careers and harm society. Their worst presentation is when they prey on women and children and it results in domestic violence.
It feels like there is little we can do as a society or even a criminal justice system when one of these guys chooses to break bad. The consequences are so permanent, even if the victim doesn’t die.
This is why it was so important to me to make sure we pushed CS/CS/HB 277 from Rep. Tendrich @DebraForHouse and I am praying the Governor signs it soon. I am not sure we can fix these people through the criminal justice system, especially when they are willing to kill the thing they supposedly love, but I do know what we have now isn’t working and we have to do more. This bill is a start. It’s a message and to the victims…It’s a small piece of hope.
We will never tolerate you. Ever. This is just the first step.
Week 8 is in the books and we are locked in to get our work done. I appreciate so much the opportunity to partner with @DebraForHouse and I look forward to working on this issue with her for years to come!
I am proud to have been FloridaPolitics Quote of the day!
"If we want victims to become survivors, then survivor voices must lead the way."
Yesterday, I presented my Domestic Violence Reform bill on the House floor.
It passed unanimously and earned the co-sponsorship of every member of the Florida House of Representatives.
They quoted a portion of my presentation, and I’ll be sharing more soon — including the full bill presentation.

The House passed a bill increasing the penalties for repeat #domesticviolence offenders. It also creates a pilot program in which those who violate a protective order would have to wear an ankle monitor. @DebraForHouse @DannyNixJr https://t.co/HR2NqWYNzK
Now in Florida: The state House of Representatives passed the "Judea and Samaria" bill with overwhelming bipartisan support, 92-14.
The vote followed meetings between Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan and Florida legislators. Democratic Rep. Debra Tendrich said the recognition "should not be controversial."

CS/HB 277 by Rep. Tendrich provides law enforcement/prosecutors with stronger tools to hold domestic violence offenders accountable. I’ll be joining as a co-sponsor!
The House Justice Budget Subcommittee passed a bill that would require respondents in #domesticviolence injunctions to wear GPS devices to allow for monitoring by law enforcement and survivors of #domesticabuse. @DebraForHouse #MustSeeTFC https://t.co/mrfZXWwk3K

In a bipartisan effort, @DebraForHouse and @DannyNixJr are teaming up to protect victims of domestic violence and stalking.
Their bill would allow for ankle monitors to be put on offenders and escalate penalties for repeat offenders.
