Representing North Carolina's 14th Congressional District 🇺🇸| Longest-serving Speaker of the North Carolina House | Member of @FinancialCmte & @housebudgetGOP
The reckless magistrate judges in Charlotte are exactly why I introduced the Judicial Accountability for Public Safety Act.
Really simple: judges should be liable for negligently releasing a repeat offender who goes on to commit a serious violent crime.
Just so everyone understands what just happened in Charlotte NC:
>woman rams cop with car
>gets $3k bond
>leaves jail
>gets indicted for Assault With Deadly Weapon
>still no jail
>same woman rams 2nd man with car 3 weeks later
>gets $10k bond
>leaves jail
>currently walking free
Hurricane Helene exposed the need for better coordination between agencies to get disaster assistance to folks faster. Ms. Stephanie McGarrah, Deputy Secretary of North Carolina Department of Commerce, highlighted that challenge during a recent @FinancialCmte disaster recovery hearing.
That’s why I introduced the HUD Disaster Information Improvement Act. My legislation strengthens transparency and coordination to reduce waste, fraud, and abuse, and help get relief to those who need it faster.
I led my North Carolina and South Carolina colleagues in a letter to Secretary Mullin requesting enhanced security and federal coordination for the 2027 World Military Games in the Carolinas.
With more than 10,000 active-duty military athletes from 140+ nations coming to Charlotte and the Carolinas, it's critical we have the resources in place to ensure a safe and successful event. That's why we're requesting a SEAR Level 1 designation and the establishment of a White House Task Force.
America's military must remain the strongest fighting force in the world.
Last night, I voted to pass the FY27 National Defense Authorization Act to strengthen our military's readiness, give our service members the support they deserve, and ensure America stays ahead of our adversaries.
The bill also includes my amendment to help prepare the Army for the next generation of military computing technology.
The majority of Americans support voter ID. We adopted it in North Carolina over a decade ago and we’ve seen greater voter participation since doing so.
I’m proud to support this budget resolution, which advances reforms like voter ID across all fifty states, strengthens our national security, and provides certainty for our food supply.
Tonight, the House took action to prevent a government shutdown by passing H.R. 9770, the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2027. This bill funds the government through December 4 while Congress works to finalize full-year appropriations.
I voted in favor of this clean, straightforward continuing resolution to protect the critical services Americans rely on while ensuring political games do not jeopardize the funding process.
Today we celebrate the anniversary of Apollo 11, the mission that forever changed history.
On July 20, 1969, the United States became the first nation to land humans on the Moon, marking a defining moment in the Space Race. More than fifty years later, America remains the world's leader in space exploration, building on the legacy of Apollo through new missions to the Moon and beyond.

This morning, I joined @NEWSMAX to honor the life and legacy of the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
We also discussed the war in Iran and the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act becoming law.
Watch below:
The 21st Century Road to Housing Act is now law, helping make homeownership more affordable and attainable for every American.
I'm proud that my TRUST Act was included in this legislation. By reducing unnecessary regulatory burdens, well-managed community banks can spend less time with bank examiners and more time serving the families and small businesses that rely on them.
This is a huge step toward removing barriers to homeownership and expanding opportunities for hardworking Americans.
A major win for American families. The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is now law, delivering reforms that will increase housing supply, support community banks, and help more Americans achieve the dream of homeownership.

Long-term financial security for millions of children is here. Thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, eligible children can now receive a $1,000 federal contribution through a Trump Account at birth, allowing families to continue investing and contributing over time.
Trump Accounts are free to set up and available for all U.S. children with a valid social security number under the age of 18.
This is a historic investment in the next generation and their financial success.

In 1776, fifty-six brave men signed their names to a single piece of paper, risking everything to declare America's independence and set a new nation on its course.
Two hundred fifty years later, we celebrate the land of the free, the home of the brave, and the greatest nation on Earth. As we honor America 250, we remember the generations who secured our freedom and continue to defend it today.
Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸
