END OF AN ERA
It occurs to me that this may well be the longest running piece of tech I've ever owned and used. The @Ooma Hub has faithfully hung on the wall and been powered on 24/7 since the day I bought it at Costco way back in 2008.

I've always liked the redundancy of having a "landline" that's always in the same spot and ready to go. Yeah, I know its a VOIP but given the rising costs of Ma-Bell back then I was excited for the promise of a more economical alternative. Its purpose became even more essential once I had kids and wanted them to have a way to call 911 or easily dial up family members with a simple press of the ol' speed-dial button. For a piece of tech to serve the same role faithfully every day for over 18 years straight is honestly kind of impressive, a testament to their hardware design team.👏

But today it rang for the last time.

A relic of a time past. A redundancy on top of redundancy in the modern age. The kids all have their own phones now. We have plenty of other means of reliable communication. The promise of "free phone calls for life" was nice while it lasted but eventually the mandatory monthly telecom fees started to sneak in. Even though the truly "free" promise faded I think I still got my $200 worth I shelled out for the hardware all those years back. Plenty of newer models have come and gone since, but, given it's primary charge, I never had a need for upgrades. It genuinely had one job, and it did it well.

Today I reclaim a bit of wall space and a few monthly fee dollars but I shall not forget your years of loyal service.

Oh man, it's SUPER good for all kinds of product collateral like that but it also opens a can of worms for abuse. Seeing more and more products showing up that don’t look like their picture. Not saying it’s happening here at all, just a larger trend I've noticed as AI image tools get more prevalent.

Sure enough.... Raisin the 3D printed forklift by @chinbeard hauls the @uline @Postit pallet perfectly. 🥰
