An AI SDR does not replace your SDR.

It replaces the boring half of the job.

One SDR owning targeting, the offer and the hard replies, with AI running lists, first touches and follow ups, covers what three people used to.

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

The close-out email, the one where you say you will stop reaching out, gets more replies than the first email more often than people expect.

Ending well is a tactic.

We tested two sequences against the same list.

A: 15 emails in 15 days.
B: 3 emails in 15 days.

Most people assume A wins on volume alone.

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

Pressure is not a strategy.

Four emails. Growing gaps. Each one saying something new. Then stop, politely, and move them to a follow-up-in-six-months pile.

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

Simple starting move.

Hand over the two tasks your team complains about most. It is almost always list building and follow ups.

Give those away first. See what the week looks like after.

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

What to hand an AI SDR and what to keep.

Get this split wrong in either direction and outbound stops working.

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

Failure mode two:

Teams that keep the repeat work. SDRs spend 80% of the week building lists, then make the targeting decision in ten rushed minutes on Friday.

Judge sequences, not single emails.

Across a 3-5 email sequence:

Open rate 70%+ amazing, 50-70% great, under 30% is a deliverability problem
Reply rate 10%+ amazing, 5-10% great, 3-5% fine, under 3% rebuild

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

Write all four emails before you send any.

Email 1: why them, the problem, one question
Email 2: one proof point
Email 3: new angle, same person
Email 4: the close-out

Writing them together is what stops email 3 being just following up.

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

Your first sequence needs 4 emails, not 15.

One ask. Three follow ups that each add something new. Then stop, politely.

If you cannot fill four emails with new information, your offer is too thin.

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

Personalization is not a compliment about their recent post.

It is proving you know which problem they have this quarter.

If your first line could go to 500 people, it is not personal. It is padding.

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

Client stuck at 1.2% replies with a 38% open rate. Clean list, good setup.

We turned off open tracking.

Reply rate went to 2.6%.

Tracking pixels get noticed by filters. You lose one number and gain the one that pays you.

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

Copilot: the AI drafts, you approve.
Autopilot: it sends.

Run copilot two weeks first.

Whatever you keep rewriting is what your AI still does not know about your business.

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

Check it monthly. Same day, same place, write the number down.

The trend tells you more than the number. A domain rarely dies suddenly. It slides for six weeks while nobody is looking.

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

There is one number that quietly kills sending domains and almost nobody watches it.

Not open rate. Not bounce rate.

User-reported spam rate.

[Reply.io @ReplyAppTeam]

Three things pull you back:

Clean the list before every send
Plain text opt-out line at the bottom, no design
Cap volume per mailbox and per domain
