@findmymethod Regardless of societal norms, religious belief, restrictive policies, financial status, educational status and other barriers being posed at the overall good health and wellbeing of adolescents and youths in general. #FMMWCD#FMMWCD#FMMWCD#FMMWCD
@findmymethod Keeping in mind that the adolescents and youths make up a significant part of the population and are the leaders of today and tomorrow for our sustainable development and growth across all sectors. #FMMWCD#FMMWCD#FMMWCD
@findmymethod Reproductive freedom will mean access to adequate and age appropriate comprehensive sexuality education, access to unbiased non-judgmental services, and the ability to make well informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health. #FMMWCD
@findmymethod We still have high maternal mortality rate, unsafe abortions, high rate of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, contraceptive prevalence rate at 14.2 data shows it all we have a lot of work to do. Improving contraception access is very important in reducing these numbers #FMMWCD
@Thejummyadebayo
Who are the missing demographics when it comes to family planning and contraceptive services? What effect does that have in the reproductive and maternal response in Nigeria?
#FMMWCD
@findmymethod Adolescent girls, young women, women living with disabilities, unmarried women, women living with HIV. This means we have women who are being left behind, to achieve universal health coverage we must leave no WOMAN behind. #FMMWCD
@Thejummyadebayo
Do you think task-shifting and task-sharing policies have improved access to family planning commodities and services amongst poor and vulnerable adolescent girls and young women?
#FMMWCD
@findmymethod The current contraceptive prevalence rate which is 14.2 captures all women and married women no data for adolescents and young women especially unmarried so how do we make decisions to improve access to them? we need more data to inform programming for them. #FMMWCD
@findmymethod Task-shifting and task sharing have improved access to family planning commodities to women but not so much to poor and vulnerable adolescent girls and women, the biases still exist, the services are not targeted to them. #FMMWCD
@findmymethod 4) proximity to a safe service center: This is important, many adolescents do not like to use services in their communities because of fear of being recognized for accessing such service. 5) Fear of infertility due to poor knowledge on contraception 6) poor support system.
@findmymethod#FMMWCD Most young people are unable to access contraception till they get to that point of having an unwanted pregnancy. The system on which family planning was built is also not youth friendly as they are not targeted at young people.
@findmymethod However, when young people and adolescents have adequate information, access to non-judgmental services they are more willing to take up a method from experience. This was what informed our contraception provision service at @Reprolife_ng no biases and youth friendly #FMMWCD
