Train this position, over and over, until it is burned in muscle memory. It will enhance control, power, & decision making in the box. The rest is just a reaction…

We won the 18U tournament this weekend. I ended up with 3 doubles & 2 RBI (1 of my doubles was actually a 2 run 💣 but was ruled a ground rule double). Here’s a video of my 3rd double of the tournament, and a video of the “ground rule double”. @AHS_6aBaseball@BanditoBaseball

A high level D1 Hitting Coach told me..
-- "How to make an impact fast
Build a plan.
Good counts = better numbers
Without changing anything, simply chasing less + swinging at better more often creates better numbers"
**Vision, timing, swing length impacts swing decisions

IF YOU ARE IN HIGH SCHOOL AND YOU ARE:
- <85mph off the Mound
- Just Starting Puberty
- Have Not Started Lifting Consistently
A throwing program for “velocity” makes absolutely zero sense….
And if you are talking about velocity to kids 14u & under - You are the problem.
One thing I love getting the player to understand in a lesson setting is being able to create what another coach might be telling them to do in their own way. There are so many voices telling players what do to these days… HS coaches, Travel Coaches, Hitting Coaches, Dad, etc…
All kids want to do is please a coach. This is natural in terms of cognition.
This could cause a disconnection in what they do mechanically and could be the why as to a lot of kids look extremely choppy and robotic.
It’s not easy to do… but knowing how to explain it a bunch of different ways through a strong education of how the body works helps.
