Vladimir Prelog, born #OTD in 1906, was interested in the 3D arrangement of atoms in molecules.
He also helped chemists classify different forms of the same molecule. For example lactic acid can exist in two forms: (S)-lactic acid on the left and (R)-lactic acid on the right.
