@jessphillips 2/2 If private schools should lose their VAT exemption what about thousands of other charities? Or is it political expediency to ‘tackle’ private schools. Was Head of a school in Liverpool, miles removed from stereotypical views of Eton or Harrow. This will harm local kids

@jessphillips 1/2 I think it’s 18% for 6th form but in some specialist subjects such as Physics at A level, much higher. No problem political parties deciding spending priorities … but what a shame we don’t think most private schools as charities provide a public benefit.

@tomhfh Thanks for highlighting this issue. With over 400,000 charities in UK, why does Labour (always) focus on private schools? Why not Royal Opera House, British Museum, or Church Commissioners etc? All have to prove public benefit. Which charities will next be targeted?
