Last night saw Caitlin and Matthew's final session as presidents. Matthew led a group learning to code with virtual arduinos, while Caitlin ran a crossbow-building workshop. Great fun all round - well done to them both for a fab year at the helm.
The sixth form have been designing and building their very own hovercraft! Here is their first trial run. Don't judge it too harshly - the Wright Brothers' first flight was only 12 seconds!π€£
The first meeting of this term saw another great turnout of budding engineers. The juniors were building and testing their own waterwheels and the sixth form embarked on an exciting project to build a hovercraft capable of carrying a person. Watch this space!
We're back! The first society meeting of the school year saw a whopping 33 students turn up for an evening of logic puzzles and "tensegrity" structures - clever designs which hold themselves up using tension. Great leadership from co-president Matthew who ran tonight's session.
Huge congratulations to the team for their hard work - especially Henry and Dan who put hours of effort into this trebuchet. Today was a great finale!

With the post exam programme finishing earlier than anticipated, it has been a bit of a rush to get the trebuchet working in time - but here is the masterpiece in action:
The end of term means our B block classes can get a bit of a head start with some hands-on work exploring forces and materials. Here is an impressive bridge constructed by Arabella, Gracie and Sophie
- Lower sixth students Caitlin and Matthew are setting up a splinter group of engineers aiming to complete Gold CREST Awards.
The society may be online-only for the time being, but we're definitely going strong!

- New presidents Phoebe and Henry have researched and presented on the aerospace and avionics engineering of drone design - accidentally teaching themselves some of the hardest A-level material, six months early!

We are hugely proud to announce that six Repton teachers have been successfully selected as Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts for 2020-21 after their amazing work this year in the classroom and via remote learning @MicrosoftEDU#MIEExpert#remotelearning#Areptonstory
It's been great to see the ingenuity of our budding engineers! I was so pleased to see some quantitative analysis of the strength-to-mass ratio of bridges too. Lorenzo's bridge scored a whopping 96, meaning his bridge could support almost a hundred times its own mass!
Our B Block "Home Science" day has seen some great creativity & engagement from our B Block pupils. Here are some of the spaghetti bridges they constructed during the creative session this afternoon. What amazing structures @ReptonScience . Well done to you all-superb efforts!π
