Last night at #litsoc (online for Lockdown!) we had mystery as our #genreoftheweek, began our discussion of Rebecca/Crawdads and welcomed several new members. It's so lovely that the Soc continues to flourish, no matter the challenges. It's the high point of Dr R's week!
Fantastic #litsoc meeting this evening with pitches on books by authors of colour, including an excellent summary of Natives by @akalamusic from Reims (L6C). Stay turned for this week's winner and next week's #genreoftheweek. Glorious to talk books with Reptonians again 📚
A really successful first #litsoc meeting for the new year - representatives of six houses, some in Furneux, some on Teams. We'll be reading Rebecca and Where the Crawdads Sing and our first #genreoftheweek will be books by authors of colour. A chaotic yet purposeful start!
The brilliant KJC delivering this week's language lecture, focusing on the anthology extract "Explorers or Boys Messing About?". A new initiative for A and O Block this term.
Yesterday, Dr Rose read a poem by Derek Mahon to mark #NationalPoetryDay and today we hear that he has died. Here the poem is read by Irish actor Paul Mescal:

During #BlackHistoryMonth2020 we'd like to share some books by authors of colour. Up first - the spectacular An American Marriage by @TayariJones explores the impact of wrongful conviction on a newly married couple.
To celebrate National Poetry Day 2020, we asked some of our English department teachers to choose their favourite poems and read them out loud. Many of them speak profoundly to these testing times. See them here: https://t.co/Mq0GJ5Bavx #areptonstory#nationalpoetryday2020
Happy national poetry day, Reptonians! Dr Rose's B Block enjoyed some slam poetry this morning and @ReptonEnglish read some of our favourite poems (available on Stream!).
@ReptonDesign@ReptonFieldHse@ReptonSchool @ReptonPastoral You're a braver woman than me, Miss H! Will be waiting for it to cool down a little bit before I venture out ;)
One of the messages from our speaker in Chapel this morning has great resonance, especially for our U6th as they enter the final few days of their time at @ReptonSchool . This quote from Mary Oliver is one for all of us as we look to a very different summer & have time to reflect
A brilliant last #litsoc for the year, talking all about our 'desert island books'. It's been a real joy - hopefully we can squeeze a meeting in once we're all back in the village!
Fearlessly facilitated by our own Miss C, this edition of the newsletter is a real example of what Reptonians can do! Particularly proud of contributions from Lit Soc members including Mary B and Cam W! It was a real pleasure and privilege to be involved. Well done to all!
This afternoon has seen the publication of our 2nd pupil newsletter of this remote learning term. This is an utterly brilliant publication packed with pupil reflections on a wide range of topics & containing superb content. Huge thanks to the pupils & also to @ReptonEnglish. Fab
Some fantastic poems filtering through from the B Block in response to the challenge that @ReptonEnglish set as part of the B Block Enrichment day. Reptonians continue to make us very proud to be a part of this extraordinary community. Thanks to @ReptonPastoral for organising!
