Ashley's Story is one example of angst that feels fitting.
It inspired most of my hc for Bowser.
(His father being the one who made him and the Koopa Kingdom the way it is now.)

I keep thinking of the treasure escapade ending up putting Diamond City in danger as an eldritch horror is freed from it's seal, leading to the final act.

It's story could be a way of combining WL and WW. If they end up looping in the WWare crew, it could go from Wario getting back to treasure hunting... to testing his resolve.

A new Wario Land game akin to something like Metroid Dread sounds promising.
