Our Community Diagnostic Centre in Armley, Leeds, is going from strength to strength, and our Chief Executive Prof Phil Wood popped by to chat with staff and see first-hand how we’re bringing care into the heart of the community.
Community Diagnostic Centres are about providing a broad range of diagnostic tests closer to patients’ homes and reducing the pressure on our acute hospital sites of St James’s Hospital and the Leeds General Infirmary. They mean shorter waiting times and can provide patients with the option to access multiple tests on the same day, in the same place.
At Armley, we offer: ultrasound; cardio-respiratory – ambulatory blood pressure, ECG, Holter, sleep studies, spirometry, FeNo; and blood tests.
How can you access our Community Diagnostic Centres? Well, your GP or hospital care team will refer you for your required diagnostic test, at which point you will be able to select the most convenient location for you.
We also have centres at Seacroft Hospital and in Beeston. Find out more: https://t.co/sRs4pR2hKj
⭐️⭐️We offer quality assured GP direct access spirometry +/- reversibility with FeNO 🤩🤩 ⭐️⭐️ we have needed this in Leeds for a long time

Hilary Benn, MP for Leeds South, has officially opened the NHS Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) – Beeston in Leeds, bringing a range of health services closer to people in the community.
The CDC, operated by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, offers ultrasound, a range of cardio-respiratory services including ambulatory blood pressure tests, ECG, and sleep studies, and blood tests (phlebotomy).
GPs and hospital care teams will refer people for a required diagnostic test, at which point they will be able to select the most convenient location for them – which may be the CDC. The CDC provides an additional choice for patients and doesn’t replace any other options such as at a GP practice or major hospital.
Today we have been filming with @itvcalendar. We have been showing the #CareBags which we give to #Autistic patients and patients with #LearningDisabilities whilst they come to our emergency areas @LeedsHospitals 🌟
Thanks to Kai for coming to share his experience 🌟
