Inflation - the tax that makes all of us poorer. Food more expensive, fuel more expensive, everyday life more expensive.

Everything gets more expensive.

Everybody loses.

It is not some unstoppable phenomenon. Political choices have led to soaring inflation, and political choices can bring it back down.

That means cutting both the size of the state and tax, whilst finally ending reckless money-printing from the Bank of England.

Under a Restore Britain Government, the routine use of Quantitative Easing will end. That will require the explicit authorisation from the Chancellor of the Exchequer before any future programme of monetary expansion can be undertaken - such authorisation would be granted only under the most exceptional circumstances.

These decisions must be taken by those who can be held responsible by the electorate.

The addiction will end.

Policy decisions need to be taken with one aim in mind - what is right for the British people?

Restore Britain opposed our involvement in the Iran War exactly because it would drive inflation and make life more expensive for British families.

What happened?

It drove inflation and made life more expensive for British families. When the cost of fuel goes up, everything follows.

But yes, in short - controlling inflation will mean difficult decisions.

We cannot continue to borrow, borrow and borrow some more. It has to end.

Britain must live within its means, in fact going beyond that. We must reduce the debt, not just the deficit.

Nobody in politics wants to talk about this. It’s not popular, it won’t win votes.

It is the only way.

It is this, or total and complete economic collapse.

Vast cuts to Government spending are required, so yes people will lose out. There will be fewer handouts.

Under a Restore Britain Government, those British people in genuine need will receive proper support. Hardworking men and women will have their tax slashed.

Freeloaders, conmen, foreign chancers and the indolent will suffer, and I make no apologies for that.
