“I suppose that’s a very true response. Feels like ever since…”
He had to pause and really think for a moment before finally continuing,
“we left the underground, it’s been nonstop insanity.”
She found childish amusement in his response, but knew he wouldn't get it and chose to control her smirk; nodding somewhat at his question.
" I don't think telling you yes would be the honest truth. Are any of us really okay, with all of this going on? "
He’d stare at her for a moment in response to how long it took for her to ask her question.
“Yeah. They’re cleaned enough. It’s just going to take some time to get used to missing some fingers. Luckily it’s not the ones I normally use.
Are you doing alright?”
She stumbles for a moment, trying to recall what it was she actually wanted to say. But with so much direct attention on how to stop Eren lately, it was hard to remember other thoughts.
" Just wanted to check in you with those wounds. Did Hange clean them enough? "
While he knew he needed to sleep more, similar thoughts plagued his own mind and led to the raven-haired male sleeping less and staying up later.
While the fatigue was wearing on him, he found himself unable to really do much about it as he always wanted to accomplish more.
All the fighting felt like it would never cease.
The fear of waking up each day, knowing it could be their last.
Fury worried for him more, given recent injuries. If it came to it, she'd protect him above all else in their final fight.
A soft sigh would escape his lips as he stood still. He was feeling just as tired as her but would stand still to give her a place to rest, if only for a moment.
To be honest, it was comforting to feel her weight against him, even if he would never say the words aloud.
to the comrade that had been by his side for better or worse for years now.
“I can’t stop you, but I’d feel better knowing you were back here, helping hold things down. Seems like everywhere is full of tension to be honest.”
His arms tensed in memory without the full control he was used to having. The thought of losing her to the monkey too was almost enough to have Levi go and cut its head off here and now. He could feel his jaw tense and had to forcibly relax himself.
“Tch, I’m aware.” ->
" You can keep trying to ask me to stay back with Hange — but I'll only continue to tell you that I'm coming with you. " She would respond, though even Fury partly knew it was her grief causing some stubbornness.
" You're aware he tried killing me and Jean back in —
I don’t want to give that thing any more a chance to cause harm to people I care about than I can avoid.”
A long sigh would be released with a shake of his head as he looked up at the woman before him. He looked past the messy hair and darkened eyes,->
Levi would simply nod in response to her comment about burying Isaah. He knew how close they were, and how much this particular loss would sting. The raven-haired man would listen and take in her words in silence for a moment as she said her piece.
When she said the words ->
The silence felt deafening to her.
Fury knew the both of them grieved in their own way, but the more people they lost, the harder it became to continue to feel it, or allow it to be felt, despite the pain demanding it.
" . . . I know. " Fury would answer in relation to Levi's »
said, what can I do to convince you to stay here while we take the monkey out there?”
Those grey eyes of his would be watching her closely, while fully aware that she was likely to argue hard on here. As much as he didn’t want to risk losing her, he had a feeling he knew what->
standing side by side off behind Fury. Just…watching, waiting.
Isabel, Furlan, Petra, Erwin, Isaah, Sasha and all the others. That damned list just kept growing.
Although he had heard her stepping up to him, he wasn’t entirely sure it was her, so to hear her question mid-sip was a welcomed surprise. Especially since she had just crossed his mind.
An exhale with the alcohol on his breath would be released before he turned to face her. ->
Everything was going to shit lately.
Eren attacking Liberio; killing Willy Tybur.
The death of Sasha.
And now the threat of Zeke and Eren to start a Rumbling, enough so that Levi had been ordered by Pyxis to travel with Zeke out into the same forest where he lost his Squad »
He’d ensure to talk about it with her before the day was through though.
But that was for later, now was for the lost and dearly departed. He’d put off dealing with this for as long as he could, but they deserved at least this much. He could practically see all the fallen->
Before he had realized it, the raven-haired male would find himself sitting at a bench near the site that was used to memorialize those who had fallen to titans.
A small, wry smile would cross his lips for only a moment before he shook his head and poured out a bit of liquor ->
onto the ground. He knew Furlan enjoyed it the one time they had been able to snag enough to try, but a stinging sensation tore its way through his heart and head as he realized he never really got to have a drink with Isabel.
A long sigh is released before he takes a sip. ->
