Twenty-five years ago, National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from across the country proved that “Always Ready, Always There” is more than a motto as they answered the call to respond to the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks. We will never forget.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch just made Mayor Mamdani squirm.
Standing right next to him at One Police Plaza, she said:
“The men who attacked this city were terrorists. The men and women who ran into the towers were heroes. Twenty-five years cannot blur that distinction — and shame on those who do.”
Days earlier Mamdani had her hand the ceremonial 9/11 pen to his aide who once represented an al-Qaeda terrorist.
Moral clarity. No names needed.

I truly don’t understand how so many people despise this man. He has put everything on the line for this country including his life. Do people that suffer from TDS have the ability to be saved?
For thirty years before he ran for office, Donald Trump quietly paid mortgages, flew sick children across the country, and wrote checks to strangers who needed help. You will not find those stories on the evening news. So here they are.
Start with what people who knew him before politics say. He has never had a drink. He has never smoked. He has never used drugs. He built his business on long hours, and the people who worked for him will tell you he outworked all of them. Nobody called him a bigot until the day he announced for president. That timing tells you something about the accusation.
Now to the record.
In 1986, a Georgia widow named Annabell Hill was about to lose the family farm at a foreclosure auction. Trump saw her story on the news, picked up the phone, called the auction, and stopped the sale. Then he sent her the money to keep the farm.
In 1988, an Orthodox Jewish family in Los Angeles had a three-year-old son named Andrew Ten who needed treatment in New York. The boy could not survive without a full life-support setup, and no airline would carry it. His father asked Trump for help. Trump put the family on his own jet and got them there.
In 1991, two hundred Marines came home from Desert Storm to Camp Lejeune and found out the military had no aircraft to fly them the rest of the way to Florida. Trump's airline, the Trump Shuttle, made two runs between North Carolina and Miami and got every one of them back to their families.
In 1995, a passing driver in New Jersey pulled over to help change a flat on Trump's limo. Trump asked what he could do in return. The man only wanted flowers sent to his wife. A few weeks later, the story goes, the flowers came with a note saying the couple's mortgage had been paid off. People have been repeating that one for three decades.
In 1996, Trump sued the town of Palm Beach, Florida. The town had been leaning on his Mar-a-Lago club for one reason. He let in Jewish members and Black members, and the older clubs did not. Abraham Foxman, who ran the Anti-Defamation League at the time, said Trump shined a light on the ugly side of Palm Beach that the glitter usually hid. Foxman also said other clubs started admitting Jews and Blacks after Trump forced the issue.
In 2000, Trump was watching Maury Povich and saw a little girl named Megan who lived with brittle bone disease. He said her attitude got to him. He called the show and sent her family a large check.
In 2008, Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother, and nephew were murdered in Chicago. Trump moved Hudson and her family into his Chicago hotel at no charge and had his security team watch over them while they grieved.
In 2013, a Buffalo bus driver named Darnell Barton saw a woman standing at the edge of a bridge. He stopped the bus, walked over, put an arm around her, and talked her back to safety. Trump read about it and mailed Barton a check, because he thought a man like that deserved a reward.
In 2014, Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi spent seven months in a Mexican prison after he took a wrong turn at the border with legally owned guns in his truck. President Obama never placed the call to Mexico that the sergeant's family begged for. Trump sent Tahmooressi a check for $25,000 to help him rebuild his life once he got home.
In 2016, Melissa Young stood at a Trump rally in Wisconsin and cried while she thanked him. She had competed as Miss Wisconsin USA in 2005, then got sick with an illness that has no cure. During her worst stretch, a handwritten note arrived from Trump calling her the bravest woman he knew. She said the doors Trump opened for her ended up giving her Mexican-American son a full ride to college.
Lynne Patton, a Black executive at the Trump Organization battled addiction. The entire Trump family supported her.
After September 11, more than a million tons of the World Trade Center was loaded onto barges and shipped to a garbage dump on Staten Island.
Then hundreds of men and women stood at conveyor belts for ten months and picked through every ounce of it by hand.
They were looking for people.
The place is called Fresh Kills. For fifty years it was the largest landfill in the world. It took its last barge of household trash on March 22, 2001, and shut down for good. New York was finally done with it.
Five and a half months later, at two o'clock in the morning on September 12, the landfill's director got a phone call at home. He had just walked in the door.
Two trucks were at the gate. They were carrying pieces of the World Trade Center.
He drove back.
The man who ran the dump would later say, without any drama, that if Fresh Kills had not been closed, this could never have happened. There would have been no room. The garbage would have been in the way.
The site was empty. So that is where the towers went.
Here is how it worked.
At Ground Zero, cranes and grapplers lifted the debris into dump trucks. The trucks drove to a pier on the Hudson. There, the load went onto barges, six hundred tons at a time. The barges were towed down the harbor, past the Statue of Liberty, to Staten Island. More than fifteen hundred barges made the trip.
At Fresh Kills, sanitation workers unloaded them onto a hill.
And then the sorting began.
The debris was mechanically screened into three sizes. Chunks bigger than eight inches. Two to eight inches. A quarter inch to two inches. Anything smaller than a quarter of an inch, the size of a fingernail, fell through the last sieve.
Everything above that size went onto a conveyor belt.
And along the belts stood the detectives.
NYPD. FBI. Port Authority police. Medical examiners. Dressed head to toe in white Tyvek suits, in masks, in gloves, on a hill that stank of jet fuel and pulverized concrete and things nobody wanted to name. Looking down at the belt, hour after hour, as the towers rolled past them a fist-sized chunk at a time.
When they saw something, they reached in and took it, and placed it in a white bucket at their feet.
A wedding ring. A photo ID. A set of keys. A shoe.
A piece of a person.
The white buckets went to a tent that served as a morgue.
The volume was beyond comprehension. In mid-September the operation was processing 1,750 tons of debris a day. By mid-October, 17,500 tons a day. Ten times more. Round the clock. The 200-acre hill was declared a federal crime scene and stayed one for ten months.
A retired NYPD detective later wrote down what a shift looked like, because almost nobody outside knew it existed.
You wake at 3 a.m. You get a giant coffee. You drive two hours in the dark from Orange County, through New Jersey, to Staten Island. You park at the bottom of a hill that looks like the end of the world. You put on the white suit. You go to your belt. You stand there. You look.
Then you drive two hours home and do it again tomorrow.
Sanitation workers pulled sixteen-hour shifts, seven days a week. One of them, a supervisor named Barry Asnes, said afterward what kept him there. We were attacked on our own soil, in the city where I was born. This was personal.
The operation did not stop for weather. It did not stop for Christmas. It ran until July 2002. Ten months.
By the end, the men and women on that hill had recovered thousands of human remains. Tens of thousands of personal effects. Wallets, badges, wedding bands, photographs, all cleaned and catalogued and returned to families who had nothing else to bury.
When they were finished, the remaining material was placed in a 48-acre section of the landfill, a mound two hundred and twenty-five feet high, and covered.
It is a park now.
Many of the men and women who stood on that hill have lung disease. Asthma. Cancer. PTSD. The air they were breathing, eight and ten and sixteen hours a day, was full of the towers. Some of them have died of it.
Almost nobody knows their names. Almost nobody knows the place.
Mention Fresh Kills and 9/11 in the same sentence, the retired detective wrote, and most people will have no idea what you are talking about.
Here is what you should know.
Two thousand seven hundred and fifty-three people were murdered in those towers. Only about six in ten have ever been identified.
Every one of those identifications came out of a white bucket.
Every wedding ring returned to a widow. Every badge returned to a firehouse. Every fragment of bone matched to a name and buried with a headstone instead of a question mark.
Somebody in a white suit, standing at a belt on a garbage dump at four in the morning, reached into the World Trade Center as it rolled past, and picked that person up, and put them in a bucket, and sent them home.
They did that for ten months.
Nobody applauded on the hill. There was nobody to watch.
They did it anyway. 🇺🇸
At a loss for words on the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Then I watched nearly 200 @FordhamNYC students, many born years later, climb 2,200 stadium steps in honor of the ascent FDNY firefighters undertook that day. They showed up. They remembered. I have hope for this generation.
@MichelleMaxwell The passenger in a business suit whose throat was slit was a Raytheon exec. My cousin in law reported to him, and thankfully, decided not to travel to LA with his boss the night before.
Where are the statues for her? George Floyd gets one? This is a story that should be in every history book from 4th grade. We're teaching crap stories to students now if we're teaching history at all. I'm so sad I didn't know her name. #AmySweeny Every US citizen should know her name.
🚨 NOW: MAGA is in mass uproar that Florida "Republican" Rep. Maria E. Salazar just voted IN FAVOR of PROTECTING hundreds of thousands of Haitian migrants from deportation...
...the SAME "REPUBLICAN" who is pushing amnesty for millions under the DIGNDAD Act
Our Republicans need to START ACTING REPUBLICAN and put Americans first.
This is NOT what the people voted for in the last election! 🇺🇸
🚨 NOW: President Trump is getting increasingly PISSED OFF that Leader Thune REFUSES to fire the Obama/Reid Senate parliamentarian, who is blocking key legislation
"The leader has the right to FIRE the [parliamentarian] at will and put somebody else there... we get SO MANY negative rulings from her."
"She's been there for YEARS, and she was put there by Harry Reid and Barack Hussein Obama."
"It's not even BELIEVABLE that she's still there."

He’s also DELAYING the city budget
“We need new revenue!” 🤡
You got SWINDLED, NYC!

🚨 BOMBSHELL ALERT: TREASON UNRAVELING IN REAL TIME?! 🚨
WELL… ISN’T THIS THE MOTHER OF ALL COINCIDENCES?!
What if the URANIUM Hillary Clinton sold to Russia — while she was Secretary of State — somehow ended up in Iran’s nuclear stockpile… right after Obama shipped them plane-loads of cash?!
The enriched uranium Iran just surrendered?
If forensic tests MATCH it to the Uranium One batch…
GAME OVER.
Hillary. Obama.
JAIL. TREASON. HISTORY BOOKS.
No more hiding behind “controversy-free” fairy tales. Obama’s legacy is cracking wide open — and the American people are finally waking up to the greatest scandal of our lifetime.
This isn’t a conspiracy. This is karma catching up.
Trump was right all along.
Who else is ready for the TRUTH to drop like a nuke?! 🔥🇺🇸

They buried it once.
This video lays out the crimes tied directly to Hillary Clinton while she worked under Obama.
Twitter under Jack Dorsey yanked it.
You know what to do.

As expected, THIS is what we Americans saw today.
It is no wonder the 112,000+ signatures of the grieving family members demanding Mamdani stay away knew exactly what his attendance insistence meant . . . he just wanted a photo op.
And, fortunately for the families and the rest of us, he got it.
@davidaxelrod@nytimes Don’t tell people what they should feel. You feel yourself the way you feel and people will feel the way they feel.
I feel disgusted. And I was there 25 years ago.
