Released as part of the SEGA PC series in the '90s, this version brought the legendary AM2 fighting game to Windows 95 users, allowing them to experience polygonal martial arts in all its blocky, glorious form.
SEGA PC is a series of Sega arcade hits converted for the DOS/Windows machines between late 90s and early 2000s. Today we continue with a true classic: remember those intense arcade battles with Akira, Jacky, and the rest of the Virtua Fighter crew?
On the PC Engine Fan from July 1992, a small article about the possible new CD add-on for the Super Famicom/Nintendo, similar but superior to a Mega CD, it says… a CD peripheral that then became a standalone console, the first Sony PlayStation.
The Typing of the Dead, the only arcade with a PC keyboard! I’m using the 8bitdo mechanical keyboard. A zombie-slaying, adrenaline-pumping word-fest! A horde of the undead is shambling towards you, and the only way to survive is to obliterate them with perfectly typed words.
Let's talk about Nosferatu. No, not the movie from 2024, no, not the movie from 1979 and no, not the movie from 1922! I’m talking about the 1995 action-platformer video game for the Super Famicom. Released in Japan and developed by SETA Corporation
Nintendo Virtual Boy - a piece of gaming history
The Nintendo Virtual Boy, one of the most unique and ambitious gaming consoles ever made. The setup includes a full collection of games like Bomberman, Galactic Pinball, Mario’s Tennis, Red Alert, and Virtual Tetris
They use live-action video footage of real tracks filmed from the front of a moving train, giving an authentic rail experience that’s both immersive and nostalgic. Pair that with detailed in-cab controls and schedules, and it’s like being a 90s JR East train driver.
I’m still in a Japanese mood after the great recent trip to Japan. It also made me fall in love with Densha de Go again (the arcades are still amazing to this day).
Today, I’m diving into two Japanese train simulator games from the ’90s, playing them on my PowerBook Pismo
Train Simulator 小田急電鉄 小田原線from 1996 – a brilliant piece of software that lets you step into the cab of a train and experience the journey along the Odakyu Odawara Line.
Train Simulator JR東日本 山手線内回り(大崎~大崎from 1998, one of Tokyo’s most famous rail lines.
Mystery House for the FM-7: released in 1982 by Micro Cabin. A precursor to the iconic point-and-click adventures, a glimpse into the humble beginnings of interactive storytelling. This masterpiece transported players to a spooky Victorian mansion filled with puzzles and mystery
Another anime OST cassette tape post! This time with the legendary Sony Walkman TPS-L2, the OG portable music player from 1979 (yes, it's THAT old!) paired with two incredible cassette tapes: Saint Seiya Volumes I and II, the soundtrack to one of the most iconic anime of the 80s!
Devil Hunter Yohko (魔物ハンター妖子 第7の警鐘) A slice of Mega Drive nostalgia paired with some good old-fashioned demon-slaying action!
Released in 1991, this side-scrolling platformer is based on the classic anime series. It’s a must-see/play for retro gaming and 90s anime
Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) anime cassette tapes from the 1986 movie. The music is an absolute blast, dramatic, intense, and dripping with 80s vibes.
How could I not pair them with my trusty red Panasonic Jump JA 150, a 1985 masterpiece of cassette player design?
I finally got around to organising my cassette tape collection: everything from music and anime/movie soundtracks to Commodore and Spectrum games now sits proudly in a perfectly little cassette shelf. It’s a proper shrine to an era when rewinding was an art, especially with pens.
#DylanDog: Gli Uccisori – A chilling blast from the past for fans of horror and retro gaming! Released in 1992 by #Simulmondo, this game brought the iconic Dylan Dog comic (5 "Gli Uccisori," 1987) to life on the #Commodore64 (this version here), Amiga, and MS-DOS.

Showing a bit of my room today, recently reorganised! Just finished setting up this game and work space. From CRT TVs to classic Macs, it’s a mix of nostalgic tech – a throwback experience. https://t.co/7JNGfsNE3Q
