@shanselman@patriciolatini Maybe not conspiracy but MS really need to get their shit together. Sending out an EMAIL for something so important, that effects large companies as well as small, and THEN essentially saying, "no contact" is beyond terrible for a company that has profited heavily from us.
@Pirat_Nation@nomuru2d Someone explain, if this is a safety issue, why it's available on Windows Server, which is much much more important to be reliable and safe?
@davepl1968 So components like Start Menu were rewritten in React and now going to be written again in WinUI 3. A small company wouldn't survive this kind of waste and poor decision making.
@nafonsopt@davepl1968 But as Dave says, that's not normal, and you know it's not. Therefore no one would be fired because no one would think that's okay.
@notch What current iteration are you talking about, because we're using that current iteration and it's made a huge positive impact to our business and therefore our clients.
@erikkain Pluribus is very good, but not great. It's biggest failing, after the pace, is that none of the characters are behaving in ways I would expect people to. Contrast to early Walking Dead where the world setting creates a sandbox for human behaviour and they nailed it.
@sskrn2032@davepl1968 I mean, it's not unreasonable for AI to be part of a browser in this day and age? Office isn't Windows. But ultimately my point was that hooking into an LLM for Paint, Notepad etc is not the cause of the W11 issues. They much bigger than that.
As someone who's used Windows since 3.1, it's been a hell of a ride, but I genuinely think it's time to jump off. I'll be auditing my entire software use to see if there's Linux alternatives and then jumping to Steam OS or Omachi, or both.
Microsoft admits File Explorer is slow in Windows 11, and it’s going to preload it in the background to help improve launch performance.
“This shouldn’t be visible to you, outside of File Explorer hopefully launching faster when you need to use it,” Microsoft confirmed.
If you don’t want Windows 11 to preload File Explorer, you can uncheck the option called “Enable window preloading for faster launch times” in File Explorer’s Folder Options under View.
File Explorer is still snappy on Windows 10, but the modernized Windows 11 version also brought slower performance.
This change is rolling out to Windows Insiders.

@Mads_on_X Went searching on X to see if it was just me. Incredibly frustrating to watch, unrealistic behaviour from them, including her reaction to them up to a point.
