Resident Evil Requiem on Switch 2 proves survival horror can thrive on portable hardware without losing dread, tension, or cinematic depth.
It may not match ultra-high-end console fidelity pixel-for-pixel, but it preserves what actually matters.
If Requiem is meant to represent the next evolution of the Resident Evil formula, then bringing it to Switch 2 was a bold move. Survival horror traditionally leans on high-fidelity lighting, dense environments, and cinematic tension — this version holds its own.
Score: 9/10
Pokémon FireRed on Switch 2 proves that classic design, when preserved properly, outlives graphical trends. It doesn’t try to reinvent Kanto — it polishes it.
For longtime fans, this is nostalgia executed with discipline.
For new players, it’s the purest entry point
FireRed still hits that sweet spot between accessible and punishing. Early-game Rival battles are tense. The Elite Four remains a resource management test. And post-game Sevii Islands content adds depth that many forget was ahead of its time.
When FireRed first launched in 2004, it was a faithful Gen III remake of the original Kanto journey. On the Switch 2, it feels less like a port and more like a preservation project done right — classic structure, modern execution. Not a remake and not a remaster though.
