People claim they had rooms like that. That's BS. You had an attic. A TV in your room and a computer?
Hell no, no responsible parent would allow that. The computer would only be in the computer room exclusively for dad's work.
Consoles are only for the living room and must be packaged back after being used.
Parents would never allow their kids to have a TV+PC in their rooms because they knew they would spend all day on that instead of focus on school.

Also most people didn't have internet at home back then.
