I'm just going to say it... It's really spineless behavior that Dan Clancy wasn't the co-host with Mikey Minty.
He's made his entire run as CEO by being front and center on every stream, but when the toughest announcement yet comes, he throws Mary Kish under the bus.
I flew Delta exclusively to Japan for many years, until they killed the SFO - NRT route. Flights were always packed, so never understand the decision to stop.
Best take I’ve seen all day about the Twitch AI move. The wording and responses from Twitch made it clear they weren’t in the driver seat. Bottom line: Twitch is a free service for creators/viewers and not a cash cow. Amazon wants to recoup whatever money/data it can from Twitch
Watching Twitch's Patch Notes & I feel so bad for Mary and Mike.
It seems like Amazon is forcing the gen ai training & my *assumption* is that Twitch staff fought to have this setting in the dashboard for creators because it could have just been part of the Twitch privacy policy.
Ultimately, I don't think we're going to get away from being part of model training without regulation (on any platform). Even just having a strong governance about being required to opt in versus being auto-opted in would be marginally better.
The most surprising thing about surgery recovery isn’t the pain or amount of time I sleep. It’s when I’m awake I can’t find anything to keep my interest for more than 3 minutes. Literally surrounded by games, music, media, and books - yet I’m still bored to tears.
The 2016 launch version of No Man's Sky was such a different experience.
It wasn't perfect, and it lacked a ton of QOL features, but it still delivered a unique vibe and somber tone.
This game's legacy is one for the ages.
Disruptive social tech is designed to eventually sell you two things:
A new behavior, and a paid subscription service that exploits and simultaneously trains that new behavior.
Don't rely on any company to ever "save" anything that's of any importance to you.
Sad to see EA fall so far from where it started, but it’s been on the downhill slide since the 90’s. But I’ll always have fond memories of them
from when I started gaming on a computer.
We’ve reached the height of the no disc = no buy stupidity, when commenters spam a post about a digital-only gacha game (Arknights Endfield), with that phrase.
One thing I notice on social media, people love showing how much they really “don’t” know. Whether it be videos games, money, or politics - the ratio of smart to stupid is scary 🫣
Yes, I prefer physical media for some titles. But the majority of my purchases these days are digital, especially music and video. It was always inevitable this would happen, I think GTA VI was the tipping point and accelerated this announcement (Xbox won’t be far behind)
SMH at all the Sony ditching physical media drama. This was coming for a long time, so I’m not surprised. I do find it amusing that many are saying “I’ll just get my games on Steam” or “Cancel PlayStation Plus”. Both non-physical platforms 🤔
