Reposting here from Instagram, now that I've had a moment to catch my breath:
Return to Aramon has won the 2026 Realm Award for Debut Novel at the @realmmakers Conference and Expo!
In an unforgettable moment at Union Station in St. Louis I was stunned to receive this beautiful gesture of recognition and encouragement. I'm still struggling to collect my thoughts while it all soaks in. The experience has been deeply spiritual.
The Lord walked with me every day while I wrote this novel, and he has richly blessed me again, allowing me to fellowship for five straight days with the most lovely array of Christian creators and fans of speculative fiction on earth. I am grateful beyond words, but still I must try.
Thank you Jesus. Thank you my dear wife Elisha. Thank you to my editor @anikasaph. Thank you Isaac, @TerranGregory, Cole, Ty, @JohnnyOmaha my Brother in Christ, and all the many who have upheld me along the way with your words, deeds, and prayers.
Onward, to create for Christ!

“The Great Span could now be seen, clear and massive in growing firelight a short distance down the paved road. A wondrous bridge, many-arched and jeweled with tall white turrets, it soared over a vast, deep chasm at the foot of high alpine mountains. Its length was so great and the chasm so wide, it seemed like an endless pier jutting out over an enormous black sea.”
I am deeply grateful to the host of encouragers that have carried me along the way, and thankful to God Almighty for the opportunities and strange turns of life He gives to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you all.
‼️I'm absolutely thrilled to discover that Return to Aramon - A New Moon has been selected as a Semi-Finalist for the #RealmAwards in the Best Debut Novel category! This is the premier event for Christian creators of speculative fiction with an annual conference and expo held in St. Louis, MO. Amazing!
Thank you to everyone who's supported me and my journey as a debut author over this last year. Thank you to @RealmMakers for engaging with this book. And thank you God, for this encouraging moment. Onward my friends!

Did you know? The great city of Arregalt is just shy of 50 square miles, about the size of San Francisco. With 1.1M residents, it's 70% as dense as New York City, made possible by her incredible vertical architecture, massive sea trade, fertile farm lands, and a "generous" subsidy supplied by the 13 dominated provinces.
All told, the old country of Aramon and its impossibly huge capital only supplies about 1/3 of its own food, extracted from the labors of around 200,000 souls in its hinterlands. The majority of resources flow steadily into the great central citadel, 4 miles across.
O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.
The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.
Highlights include tales from the "Return" Machinima days, writing for emotion, writing for purpose, the love of language, and a look into some unusual inspirations.
It was a treat to sit down with my fellow author
J. Alex Giguere and "talk story" for his show "Across the Realms." If you're looking for a podcast to fill an hour with everything "Return to Aramon", here's the link!

If you haven't checked out @EPICIND1E yet, allow me to give you one more reason! This was an insightful interview that can really help you understand why Return to Aramon exists and why it's a part of @The_Elmerian 's #IBOR competition.
20 years ago @TerranGregory and I teamed up to make Return: A Warcraft Saga. Today, I'm telling Return Sagas and he's telling Warcraft Sagas, like this beauty right here. This is so vintage Terran, I swear even some of the facial expressions are his. Enjoy. It's rad!
As you all know, I love words. I love them dearly. This is a picture of my most prized possession. The zip-up King James Bible I received as a toddler from my late mother. This is where I learned to read, think, and love.
The beauty of God's Word is that it is not trapped in these pages, or any others. His has the power to create in truth, and no work of man or devil can destroy or diminish it. It lives forever, and from it all other words flow.
Out of the blue, the epically talented narrator @joshuamacraevo sent me a cold read of the first few minutes of #ReturnToAramon, Chapter 1! Demo link in the comments!
To those of you for whom I've sworn to do a read-by-author, fear not: I still have every intent. This gentleman has certainly made me think twice though. In a lovely gesture, when he learned I was planning to do my own read, he immediately offered up all manner of advice and kind encouragement.
What's more, his demo has a bit of voice-acting in it, and now I'm feeling inspired. I initially thought I'd just read it straight, but now I'm VERY tempted to bring back the Voldigar voice.
What do you think?
Should I just read my book straight on, or should I add some performance? I don't listen to a lot of audiobooks, so I'm really not sure what the general preference is out there!
🚨📚 It's happening! The Spring #BasedBookSale is upon us and Return to Aramon is $0.99 for this week only. Grab it while the grabbing's good! Link in the comments.
