15M OW?
For a documentary??
That is 3h long (fewer screenings)???
In only 855 theatres?!?!?
Oh, the expansions+legs on this might be crazy, this is a proper zeitgeist breaking BO hit now.
Now also a major threat in BP, BD, Editing, Score, Supporting Actress at the Oscars.
A24's YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING cost just $7M to produce and less than $10M to market. This will end up being highly profitable for the studio as a much larger nationwide footprint will roll out next weekend.
This weekend alone saw 2,000+ sellouts around the country, w/ 70% under 35 and 55% male.
There’s Netflix money and then there’s “getting a Zeppelin song for your trailer” Netflix money. Probably could have made LADY BIRD 2 with the licensing fee.
The hole gets deeper.
WB’s DIGGER—one of the biggest box office bombs in film history—will drop over 60% in its 2nd weekend with an estimated $3M this weekend.
DDD.
Dig. Dug. Dead.
Proof that Letterboxd and X aren’t the real world. Digger is number one on the platform but continues to tank in theaters. People are likely review padding it without seeing it. Likely bots as well
IndieWire's @davidehrlich on the director and star at the forefront of "Digger":
"Alejandro González Iñárritu and Tom Cruise were made for each other, if no one else. One is a cinematic daredevil whose films are fueled by the tension between ego and mortality — a mad virtuoso obsessed with staging elaborate stunts that externalize his inner being into the stuff of outsized spectacle, and do so with a kamikaze effortfulness so extreme that even (or especially) their most grandiose work can make it seem like the person behind them is hiding from reality instead of rendering it larger than life.
The other is Tom Cruise."

Etihad threatening to sue. UAE reportedly intimating that UK investment could be pulled. A Prime Minister couching any criticisism. If this sorry saga doesn't convince you that state ownership of football clubs should never be allowed, nothing ever will.
“Klopp only won one Premier League” is seriously used as a stick to beat him with when he put up 97 and 92 points competing against the biggest cheats the sport has seen.
His legacy has never been more secure.
#Digger: actually kinda dug this film! Wasn't sure I would. But Iñárritu has put together something unique, a different way for us all to look at an important topic.
He gets sensational acting perfs out of his cast. Cruise disappears into title role, one of the most challenging of his career. Am sure that was the appeal of doing this project. Riz Ahmed is fantastic too. Both worthy of awards attention even if film stumbles at #boxoffice.
Will be polarizing & mainstream commercial appeal is limited.
What bums me out about this is that I assume he’ll get discouraged from this and shift back to exclusively action films/legacy sequels again. Which…I enjoy, but I was hyped for the idea of Cruise returning to more adventurous choices of roles like in the 90s
This is a seismic verdict against Manchester City. It's collateral impact shakes the foundation of the Premier League's integrity.
And for that integrity to not crumble, this can't be brushed under the rug. If Man City's appeal is rejected, the punishment must be extreme.
They've created "sham contracts...to artificially inflate the club’s revenues, and reduce its costs, by more than £900 million during the affected period, to appear to comply with financial rules."
Among other things, during the investigation they also "committed multiple breaches of its duties of co-operation and utmost good faith towards the League."
Taking away the three Prem titles (2011-12, 13-14, 17-18) during the period in question doesn't sting. It must be more severe. More damning.
The punishment needs to reflect the magnitude of such flagrant and egregious fraud.
