Kenyans, Please read this bill very carefully, print it if you can, go with this bill to your parents, uncles, and relatives, and read for them, for this bill will destroy so many of you if you dont fight now; you will depend only on the rich for your chicken and your eggs.
The Mt. Kenya region with your 50*100 plots and a zero grazing system won't work anymore.
Please let the people know what is coming for them when the govt targets your grandmother's 10 chickens, your mother's 50 chickens, and your neighbour who passes by the house to say hello, yet she keeps chickens, yet she is less than 100 meters away!
THE LIVESTOCK (POULTRY INDUSTRY REGULATIONS), 2023 https://t.co/s65zTUPZtt
I would really like to understand who in the @kilimoKE did this draft; if you read this tweet, we know you copied Canadian, American, and EU bills, which is lazy, and it shows how ignorant you are.
What works in temperate regions should not be applied in the tropics, and what, furthermore, White man's solutions should never ever be applied in African contexts! If you folks at the ministry had several anthropologists, philosophers and sociologists to guide your policies, you would not have this type of bill.

Retweet widely so that people can see this bill!
Kenyans, the new Livestock Bill (THE LIVESTOCK (BREEDING) REGULATIONS, 2023), which has been prepared by the Mithika Linturi-led ministry, is empowering the government to license you, the small-scale farmer, to keep livestock. In short, the state will grant your ability and right to keep livestock!
Folks, you need to wake up!
We can only pay licenses to keep livestock if they are tamed wildlife as per the KWS Act.
This bill is nonsensical and erodes citizens' right to have food on the table. The government is disenfranchising ASAL farmers who are primarily poor and depend on their cattle, goats and sheep to have a sensible meal. It is against the United Nations Human Rights Charter to target people and their livelihoods. It is immoral and evil!
This madness resembles the Seed and Plant Variety Act 2013 (Amendment).
What is going to happen:
1. The govt will start controlling what you can and can't keep and consumption thereof,
2. Multinational corporations are becoming breeders with rights greater than the citizens, including patenting breeds and the genetics thereof, and hence GMO breeds!
3. Your abilities as the indigenous citizens to keep livestock will be overridden by the powerful corporations, and you will have to depend on them after that!
4. Kenya Animal Genetics Resource Center (a govt owned agency) @KAGRC_KE may be privatized soon, too or will have outsiders controlling the data resources!

About time @NCCcustomercare did something. We've reported and complained with no major action. @SakajaJohnson please act. Qaribu Inn's actions are symptoms of impunity.
This hotel has caused quite a disturbance over the months. I have received various, reliable reports on the same.
@NemaKenya needs to crack down on such establishments, including the ones with the financial muscle to influence the law enforcement officers.
