@SmartBlackMan@LBSBaltimore@jillpcarter That wasn’t the point she was making in relation to this bill. I watched the whole thing. If that was the point in general we’d have agreement. That point in relation to the bill was grossly inaccurate. Play the responses of the other Senators to her comment & you’ll see the same
@SmartBlackMan@LBSBaltimore@jillpcarter Not in context. I was watching when she made those comments, she was wrong. This bill doesn’t provide a special set of privileges to one and demonizes others. It takes children who were forced to commit crimes against their will & deters prosecution. It also helps Black children
@MichalGross@LBSBaltimore@jillpcarter Nobody is demonizing any other group of kids. We agree that black children don’t get equal treatment in our justice system. That’s just not true relative to the Safe Harbor bill because over 70% of youth trafficked in the DJS system were black. This bill protects not prosecutes
@LBSBaltimore@jillpcarter It should also be noted the D9 Black fraternities & sororities are apart of the Coalition that support this bill. The AME churches across MD have testified, submitted letters of support, and spoken in press conferences on this bill. Bottom line: Black folks support this bill !
@LBSBaltimore@jillpcarter Its unfortunate that
@jillpcarter
comment was out of context as it relates to this bill and that this post did not cite the fact in MD of the 155 juveniles in JJ custody ID'd as trafficking survivors by DJS from 2009-2021, 111 of the 156 were kids of color (71%).
@JoannaSilver73@jillpcarter It should also be noted that the historically black—African Methodist Episcopal Churches across MD have testified in hearings, spoken in press conferences, submitted letters of support on this very bill because we understand it’s disproportionate impact on our Black children.

A popular Upper Marlboro market is openly defying Prince George’s County’s indoor mask mandate. County health inspectors say they’re not sure they’re supposed to enforce it. “Mask free environment,” signs say. @wusa9
All Americans should have equal access to register to vote, cast a ballot, and have that ballot counted fairly. Protect your voting power! It is time for Congress to pass the #ForthePeopleAct! #BlackWomenTakeAction
Stop playing with our right to vote...Enough is enough !
Call your U. S. Senator at (202) 224-3121 and urge them to pass the #ForthePeopleAct#BlackWomenTakeAction
If confirmed, @KristenClarkeJD would be the first woman and first black woman to head DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, setting an example to rejuvenate the civil rights office. #WinWithBlackWomen
