Chaplains in the @australianarmy are #positionedtoserve in units to serve all soldiers & their loved ones. I am privileged in @3rdbrigade to serve those chaplains.
Spending time with them, learning from them & encouraging them is such a humbling blessing.

A focus on “milk & honey” means we miss the truth that we are blessed, by God, with all we have. In Lent, I wonder what it looks like to give graciously with our “first fruits” - to care for those without & lift up those who serve.

After two years I handed over Command of the 3rd Brigade to Brigadier Ben McLennan this morning, he is an outstanding leader and I have no doubt the Brigade will thrive with him at the helm. Good luck and good soldiering to the Brigade for the future.

At the heart of every soldier they are a human being, with worth & value & purpose. Like all of us there are times of struggle & pain. @AustralianArmy chaplains don’t try & fix or cure or cover it up. We instead sit, listen & remind all that there is hope.

I get asked what keeps me going as a chaplain in the @AustralianArmy & serving in @3BrigadeTSV.
This week has been spent on retreat providing my needed opportunity to reflect. Affirmed for me was my vision as a chaplain: Journeying with people in faith.

My hobbies & my family’s open me up to communities that others think are weird & strange. I have experienced a deep sense of community & grace within them.

This includes participating with their faith groups. I just spent three days with the Carpentaria Presbytery of the UCA.

The faithfulness & dedication of the members to bringing hope to their communities is humbling.

Sometimes we cannot put down the load we are carrying. We just need to put 1 foot & another on the mission. @3BrigadeTSV chaplains go with soldiers to care & bear hope with them on the task.
@AustralianArmy chaplains remind all of the why of their hope.
