How it happened:
God: Hey son, check out this creation I made!
Jesus: wow, that's cool dad. Look at that naked guy eating an Apple!
God: what?! Medammit! Now the only way to fix this mess is to have you murdered. Sorry son, my omnipotent hands are tied
@himothyduncan3@BoCamaro All of basketball is exciting, dunks are a part of that. Ive never watched a BKB game & thought the game needed more dunks
For the most part, the people that are clamoring for "The WNBA needs more dunks" are people that never had or never will have any intention of watching WNBA
@2kgrinders2@coleGBO5@BoCamaro Yes.
"WNBA needs more dunks" -- Fella who never watches women's sports.
Even in the NBA, dunks are great, but fellas want to see their team win, regardless of dunking.
@burnab007@BoCamaro You are the only person to suggest that shooting on a lower goal would be harder than a higher goal.
I only said professional BKB players arent going to score more points on 9ft layups to justify moving the goal.
Dunking is really the only consideration to lower the goal
@burnab007@BoCamaro This is absolutely false
Pitching from 70 feet doesnt make you better at pitching from 60'6
Now, a person can throw a ball 150 feet to help overall arm strength, but that doesnt help a precise skill
Practicing on a 12 foot makes you good at shooting at a 12 ft goal. Thats all
@burnab007@BoCamaro LoL if they practice on higher rims, lol they will be better on higher rims. Lol
Lol A pitcher doesnt practice pitching from 70 ft, lol because pitching from 60'6" would be easier lol. They practice to be good at exactly the skill they need to produce. Lol
Lol.
@JJuice8720@coleGBO5@BoCamaro Sure. Basketball goals that competitive players use to train whether it be indoor gyms -- or outdoor playgrounds, are going to be expected to have 10 ft goals. Baseball Diamonds are going to be expected to have 90 ft bases, Soccer goals are gonna be 8ร24.
@JJuice8720@coleGBO5@BoCamaro The context of this discussion centers around the WNBA lowering rims, so competitive level basketball.
You want to lower rims? Fine, but then you have to have consistency, kids cant be training/HS/NCAA and then all of a sudden the goal changes significantly.
@coleGBO5@BoCamaro Thats a little different-- because dudes are still shooting those shots regardless of where the three point line is. Adjusting the three pt line just changes what shot is worth how many points... it changes spacing strategy.... but the mechanics of the shot stay the same.
@JJuice8720@coleGBO5@BoCamaro You are the only person that suggested every goal in a playground is at 10 ft...
That said baseball fields can vary, but they should all have 90 foot bases.
@JJuice8720@coleGBO5@BoCamaro Because that's where a lot of athletes practice... it wouldnt be good for the sport if some goals were at 9 feet and some at 10 feet.
The pragmatic problem of talking about lowering the hoop for the WNBA would be the 1000s of hours ballers train on 10 ft goals.
@snikles313@BoCamaro You seriously think Caitlin Clark is going to score more layups on a 9 ft rim over a 10 ft rim? Both would be automatic for her.
Dunks? Absolutely.
Layups. Nope
@CaptainDadpants@coleGBO5@BoCamaro No -- but like the shot clock in HS -- youd have to do it for every school in the state. Some states have shot clocks other states dont -- but no states have some. You cant have some schools in a state playing on 9 ft rims and some schools playing on 10 ft rims.
@snikles313@BoCamaro Nah -- layups on a 9 ft rim arent going to be measurably easier than they are on a 10 ft rim for a professional basketball player.
@coleGBO5@CaptainDadpants@BoCamaro If they can't afford shot clocks or a bench official to manage the game then they wont be able to afford a competition level adjustable hoop that would need to be measured before every game.
@coleGBO5@BoCamaro Maybe... I mean if you consider the amount of training that goes into a professional athletes training, whether its practicing on a 10 ft rim or pitching at 60'6" -- thats a mountain of meticulous muscle memory that has to be basically deconstructed.
