"Students first, Collaboration Always." Thank you, @RevSherisse, for inviting me to lead the 25th Anniversary Kick-Off Opening Day Celebration of @CityYear in the #AmeriCorps pledge! It was an honor to welcome new leaders to an incredible year of service!
I'm looking forward to representing @CityYearDetroit as a member of the Detroit Regional Chamber's 44th @LeadershipDET cohort.
Leadership development is central to our site’s growth. I'm excited to share my progress and learnings through this transformational process.

We got a lot done in Michigan this week:
💰 Repealed the retirement tax and boosted the Working Families Tax Credit
🏳️🌈 Expanded the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act
⚠️ Passed Universal Background Checks in the MI House
Together, we'll continue to deliver for Michiganders!
Michigan is finally headed in the right direction with respect to equitable education policies. Our students should not be punished & retained, instead they should receive equitable support to ensure that they are thriving by 3rd grade & beyond.
Thank you for your swift action!
Teachers have been calling on us to get rid of the arbitrary and punitive third-grade reading retention law, and today we voted to do just that. Former teacher, @RepNateShannon spoke in support of passing this important legislation.
Across the country, #MLKDay is a day on for City Year—a day of service to our community. At @cityyeardetroit our staff and AmeriCorps members served at our @Detroitk12 partner school, Central—Durfee, by organizing libraries and creating bulletin boards. #CityYearDetroit#Detroit
“But SHE who waits upon the Lord shall renew HER strength; SHE shall mount up with wings as eagles; SHE shall run, and not be weary; and SHE shall walk, and not faint” (Isa. 40:31)
In honor of my grandmother, I ran.

Hanging out with our talented youth!Besides being ambushed in a Nerf War, I shared that my role as a Board Member is to SERVE. My role is to identify barriers, crush them & ensure that they are equitably resourced so that they can thrive.
Congress's failure to extend the CTC, one of the most effective programs of the pandemic, is an insult to families. Congress cannot continue to delay—once back in D.C., they must act urgently to help families and advance racial equity by extending the CTC.
My favorite thing about leadership is coaching and mentoring. My office always has high school students, college and graduate school interns.
The most exciting part was to watch them engage the Detroit community on our legislative priorities! This is the good work. #leadership
