We thank Allah for the blessing of being together to celebrate Eid as a community. We began with a Quran recital and some takbir from our children. Our souls were then lifted with poetry in English and Arabic.
It was a lovely summery day and St Fillan’s was a great venue with lots of outside space for people to enjoy.

Thread: We thank Allah for a gathering full of remembrance: remembrance of Allah, remembrance of sacred places and sacred history and remembrance of the best people ever to walk the earth: our father Ibrahim and our beloved messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon them and
your forefather Ibrahim” (22:78).
The children began with Quran, dhikr and takbir. They listened to some of the stories of Ibrahim. They then made a display of the key parts of the story: the sun, the moon, the star, the fire, the sacrifice, his sons, the Ka’bah and his prayers.
Shaykh Ma’an delved into some of the meanings of salawat and advised us to strengthen our connection to the Prophet through constantly reading about his character and qualities.
Thread: We were blessed a couple of weeks ago to host Shaykh Ma’an al-Dabbagh at Dar al-Arqam. Shaykh Ma’an studied with some of the great scholars of Yemen and the Hijaz, most importantly the late great Sayyid Muhammad Alawi Maliki of Mecca.
When scholars come they connect us to their teachers and chains of connection back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The gathering was a gathering of salawat, poetry and remembrance of Allah and His Beloved ﷺ .
