I’ve been following government corruption for most of my life. Since the Clinton administration. As much as I would love for this to be true. It’s not what I see happening. From what I’m observing it appears that the corporate benefactors who have traditionally benefitted from the covert corruption of our government are actively taking advantage of the system and orchestrating a corporate takeover of the US. What is happening is a fascist coup. They’re going to do what every narcissistic abuser does and deny deny deny. “No we’re here to save you!” “You’re crazy I never said/did that!” These tactics have been played out time and time again and this is why ever person who’s ever been in an abusive relationship is freaking the fuck out about this administration.

What we want is for this country to honor liberty, justice, and equality. In that manner pride month is one of the more patriotic celebrations in this country. Confining any artistic media is a dangerous and slippery slope. Fantasy stories, Comic books, films, video games are all fun forms of escapism, that often have social commentary that runs parallel to issues we face in life. Part of the reason fantasy is so fun is because it gives us a way to explore our morality and social norms without the constraints of reality.

To say that present day political bullshit has no place in them is to deny a critical function of art. What would X-men be without the social commentary of mutant discrimination/acceptance? What would Star Wars be without the social commentary on authoritarianism, on how we treat AI, on selfishness vs selflessness?

Complaining about social commentary and political allegories in art shows at best a lack of understanding, at worst it indicates you have chosen the dark side of the equation and don’t like being called out for being a fascist pos
