This Tax Day we want to remind you that the wealthiest 1% of Rhode Islanders – making $475,000 or more – pay much less in overall taxes, when factoring in income, property, and sales taxes, than the lowest 20% of earners. We have a plan to fix it: https://t.co/zJTTyRKeR6
Yes, some people are businesses. But very few are in the top 1%. Under our proposal, the vast majority of businesses will see no tax increase.

Our proposal to create a new tax bracket for the top 1% of earners will help spur small business growth and job creation. Fair tax policy and increased revenue help make Rhode Island more attractive to small businesses.
-Overall, between 93% and 96% of business owners would not have enough taxable income to be affected by this proposal.
-A business owner with $500,000 in net, taxable income will pay only an extra $750 under this proposal.
The Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy points to our coalition as one group that's "taking the lead on proposing or promoting tax increases on the rich to stave off deep and devastating budget cuts and allow for much needed new investments."
