@MatthewMarks42 @allpartycycling @RuthMayorcas This might sound facetious but Waze (owned by Google) has been a major contributor to sending more cars down formerly-quiet cycle routes. Preferring main routes for cars would definitely help.
@willnorman The lane is welcome, especially when going to Mayfair!
But do you know why:
1) It isn't signposted in the park.
2) Cyclists are directed through narrow pedestrian gates rather than the very wide (and unused) road gates.
Two changes would ⬆️⬆️⬆️usage.
Before Strava routes they had this
Dual sided folding map showing London to Brighton route with adjacent contour profile
Reverse side shows London to Portsmouth route.

@KatyCycles @citycyclists @wandscycling I think this is a temporary layout while building works at happening on the Oval Village site.
This cycle lane used to be North Bound only.
My morning in @theroyalparks was interrupted by a dangerous high speed close pass, made by a gesticulating baboon driving his car in Richmond Park at 6:24am, 36 minutes before the park is even supposed to be open to cars. @London_Cycling@MPSRoyal_Parks
For context...
🚫 81% of drivers exceed the speed limit in 20mph zones.
🚫 53% exceed the speed limit in 30mph zones.
🚫 In 2019, 570 pedestrians & cyclists were killed by motor vehicles.
I'm not sure 'protect yourself because our society won't' is the right message here.
@willnorman Lovely to see more bike lanes 👍
However I would suggest test riding it. The surfacing could do with more attention from the contractor because it is unplesantly bumpy, especially going North past the stadium.
@joncstone @citycyclists North side of the Oval is the worst bit despite being a quietway
Can also go Fentiman Rd, ped xing, Handforth Rd, ped xing, Cranmer Rd, Foxley Rd, Bolton Crescent, Kennington Park
This route used to be unsafe but the Oval LTN has really reduced through traffic on Handforth Rd
@joncstone @citycyclists I go through the Oval LTN, around the north side of the Oval, Bowling Green St, Magee St, Kenning Park Road (segregated), use the crossing into Kennington Park, then down to Bethwin Road for Burgess Park.
@MicheleRagusa6@Chris_Boardman There are lots of council estates in this LTN including at least one on this road. And many of those pretty buildings have been split up into 3 or 4 flats.
@MatthewPWoods @psimonk https://t.co/UxbmbHieqB is still my favourite. Having cycle routes show up directly in the Google Maps app on your phone is invaluable.
