We want to protect and improve the natural environment of the River Wye and make it a special place that people can enjoy and where wildlife can flourish.
Thank you to the Chiltern Chalk Streams project for an excellent RiverFly Day hosted at the Box Moor Trust. Really interesting talks and great to meet fellow Riverfly monitors. A good chance to refresh our monitoring technique with a visit to the River Bulbourne.
Thanks to our supporters on a hot and busy day: Bill, Pete, Priscilla, Barry & Caroline, Jane & John, Colin & Carole, and finally, can you spot Ed? @chilternrangers
Wooburn Fete June 2023 - Friends of the Wye.
Friends of the Wye volunteers mounted their display at Wooburn Fete, and enjoyed meeting and sharing information with visitors.
We had our usual wet display of aquatic invertebrates (starring the crayfish), information about our mills heritage, and photos highlighting the amount of rubbish that sadly finds its way into the water.
The results were very obvious and on past experience we expect the silt will be gone in 24 hrs and the chalk stream bed revealed again.
Our thanks to Bill, Keith and Phillip who worked in the river and to Judy and Julie who piled the vegetation for removal by the Council.

Friends of the Wye work party held along the River Wye through Desborough Park last week: the two channels near the car park were being blocked by overgrown vegetation so a huge clearance job to ensure that good flow was restored to the channels and to prevent

Friends of the Wye at Park Fest in Wooburn enjoyed an afternoon talking to visitors about the work they carry out along the River Wye - balsam bashing, flow management, control of vegetation along the banks of the river and removal of litter.
Thank you to all those that stopped by to have a look at the work carried out by our river wardens and river-fly monitors and the fantastic team of volunteers who work so hard to keep this stretch of water a beautiful place for all to enjoy.
Amongst the Bullhead fish were a number of different freshwater invertebrates: cased and caseless caddis fly larvae, mayfly nymphs and freshwater shrimp. Please check out Friends of the Wye for future events.
