@BattleNonSense@lilTrypex@TurboJohn4@Brammflakes@TheFaithSheriff Most shooter games do have skill based matchmaking (CoD has its own flaws with that system) to some degree, even ranked modes separate players on their performance. I understand not having everything unlocked can be frustrating, but it allows players time to learn/improve.
@BattleNonSense@lilTrypex@TurboJohn4@Brammflakes@TheFaithSheriff Forza doesn’t force players to use a starter car against other players in supercars, that isn’t enjoyable. Shooters with unlocks are usually balanced enough, and unlocking gives players a chance to explore loadout options instead of every player running the same “meta” loadout.
@BattleNonSense@lilTrypex@TurboJohn4@Brammflakes@TheFaithSheriff Progression = game time, for example, in Forza Horizon 6 you don’t start off with all the best cars in the game, you play races, level up, earn money, earn achievements, explore, and get cars as a reward or purchase, and then upgrade them. Aka unlocks.
@BattleNonSense@lilTrypex@TurboJohn4@Brammflakes@TheFaithSheriff COD, since COD4, has always had the unlock system and I’ve never felt I was at a severe disadvantage because of it. Player knowledge, positioning and accuracy are definitely more important than what loadout you have access to. The time it takes to unlock everything is minuscule.
@TurboJohn4@BattleNonSense@Brammflakes@TheFaithSheriff Squad has less interest from players than the games I listed that have progression systems. Progression is just one part of a multiplayer game and not the whole experience and if you refer back to my original post you’ll see I stated that progression systems should be balanced.
@TurboJohn4@BattleNonSense@Brammflakes@TheFaithSheriff You didn’t answer my question. “COD4 has limited unlocks” - It’s limited only by deciding not to Prestige/progress. Progression is key to player retention, having absolutely nothing to unlock in regards to loadout, cosmetics or level would make for an extremely boring mp game.
@TurboJohn4@BattleNonSense@Brammflakes@TheFaithSheriff I was talking specifically about popular multiplayer FPS games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, R6 Siege, Destiny, Apex Legends, Wardogs etc. These games have progression systems through unlocks, cosmetic or otherwise, and so do the vast majority of multiplayer games in general.
@BattleNonSense@Brammflakes@TheFaithSheriff Progression = player retention. If there’s nothing game changing to unlock then players don’t feel rewarded and become uninterested in the game. Likewise, if unlocks take too long players become frustrated with the game. Meaning a balanced progression system is best.
@BeanBolt “I understand that most of the player base only plays Casual, and this is not an attack on you” - proceeds to attack those players. It’s a beta, it’s not that deep.
Tactical Sprint will not be default in Modern Warfare 4 anymore and will be made a perk instead
"We have removed Tactical Sprint by default, which we think improves the pace of combat and gives the game a more classic feel."
@Stevenyoung27@MrProWestie Completely agree, I played CoD exclusively with a controller/on console for 10 years before trying it on PC with M&KB. The amount of advantages you gain with a M&KB against controller is insane. Accuracy, speed, input control and latency. The problem was and is crossplay.
