@sandraglahn have you seen this video? It doesn’t go into the detail that I would like but it’s interesting to see this channel address Artemis of the Ephesians

Just saw #TheWomanKing wow. Powerful story. My favorite parts to see were probably the dances and the war chanting. Well done overall. They paid so much attention to the coolest tiny details. I kept wondering, how do the Dahomey do X? and then the movie would show it in detail.
I started watching See with Jason Mamoa. The music sounds familiar, reminding me of another show. I even had the thought, “how crazy would it be if they’re written by the same guy.” Well, I just noticed in the title sequence: same guy. & apparently he composes all over the place.
@sandraglahn@bibleorg Interesting read. I really think there’s something to this know/take distinction. Adds a layer to knowing God in Christ. I still lean toward thinking the sons of God are fallen angels, but I don’t think that would undermine your major points.
We vastly underestimate the extent to which debates over gender roles even within the church are founded on the presumption that sex can reliably be had without producing babies. The sheer fact of birth control has thrown even Christians into a world of artificial confusion here.
@sandraglahn I’m not a fan of the “target” of this article: “Lots of young people and churches are using liturgy a la carte. They should not do that because they may not do it right (i.e. it might get watered down or separated from doctrine as they do it.) Man, those people should stop.”
@sandraglahn Technically I heard a lecture covering it in my Greek class on Romans, but the lecture was very cursory. I also did translate it in that class and dug around a lot in commentaries. I also believe I heard you lecture on it in RoWiM
Thor: Love and Thunder was disappointing. Weird editing choices, some scenes were way too long, other scenes were super rushed, and scene transitions were pretty bad at times. The action was poorly lit, which was thematically appropriate re:shadows, but very same-y after a while.
People seem weirdly concerned about the 1925 abortion ban, as if they don’t know that lots of laws were written before 100 yrs ago. The date of the law doesn’t matter, so stop using stupid rhetoric about going back 100 yrs. What really matters is, what does the law actually say?
It can be hard for the one who rejoices to sympathize with the one who mourns, and hard for the one who mourns to tolerate the one who rejoices. Lord, help us.
Wow. I’m so impressed by #TopGunMaverick It succeeds as a sequel to the first one in every way. Great pacing, great story, good soundtrack that pays homage to the original. Exhilarating action. I was never bored. Also, it lived up to the name: this is truly Maverick’s story.
Rewatched Top Gun, after not seeing it for like 20 years, so I could get ready to see the sequel. Very meh. Uninteresting and repetitive soundtrack. Unlikeable main character. Felt like a chore to get through. Hope the new one has little in common with it.
@AJWTheology@drewsteadman1 I’ve been thinking about doing doctoral work myself for a while & seeing this tweet has reignited my search. The two of you have independently shaped my academic career & walk with Christ, so it’s great but bizarre to see you together in a thread. Like how do you know each other?
