@DrEmmaBeckett I don't know if it's equivalent there vs the US, but I'm a park ranger. Most folks I work with have a bachelor's degree, though a handful have master's and a tiny portion doctorates.
@ask_aubry Man, I hope she sees that multi-part tiktok you posted the other day of the tradwife who got out of her marriage. The thought of this poor girl not even being able to drive if there's an emergency or she needs to escape is terrifying.
@vampoppy I'm a park ranger and my special interests are museums and fossils. I get to talk to people about them (who actually want to know!) all day every day!
@10kStonesPoet I'm relatively freshly married (1.5 years), so I'm sure it still feels new and shiny, but we're both very happy. We live in different places at the moment, so it's definitely not easy, but he's most definitely my better half. It would be harder if we weren't good communicators.
@rachelmtrimmer The best dinosaur in the whole world is Carnotaurus (meat-eating bull) because he had the tiniest arms proportionally (smaller than T-rex) and cute little horns. Also, he has a great feature in the first season of Prehistoric Planet on Apple. THE BEST, and I will fight over it.
@shockproofbeats I like to add "or"s in exchange for vowels. My mom now goes by "Morthor," my dad by "Forthor." A fun show might go by "Ormbrollor Orcordormor." It gets over the top very quickly but brings both myself and my husband a lot of laughs.
@ItsEmilyKaty It's not great having a therapist say, "it's okay to talk to people about what you're going through to lighten the load. Everyone goes through the same things," then after unloading some of it, hearing them say, "no one has ever said something like that before." π Reassuring.
@njoybetz For writing, I've found Grammarly particularly helpful. The fancy version will let you set the tone you want to convey, which definitely improved my work.
TFW you've had a great day exploring archeological sites but just skinned your palms and knees. ππ»
I will never stop laughing at the face my nephew made when I told him to smile. And the thumbs up? *chef's kiss* ππ€
@SternbergCamps@DALevering @PrehistoricMus @JLivelyPaleo I just saw them yesterday while I was in Cayonlands! I almost stopped when I saw the cars at a road cut but thought it would be weird for an adult to start yelling at a group of teenagers about how, "I used to teach there!" π Hope they had a great time!
@VanceMan360@DmitriBraverman@Hieraaetus My dudes you're both wrong. Vance: Sequim gets less than 16" of rain per year. It has two native cacti. It does not get as much rain as everywhere else. Dmitry: the other listed towns get less rain than Forks and the rainforest, but that's hardly a huge part of what surrounds it.
@GuloThoughts I told a science camp I taught that naming things was as easy as describing them. We made a micro exhibit of our favorites: red-winged blackbird, snapping turtle, warbler, rattlesnake, etc. It was delightful; they came up with some I hadn't ever thought of.
@DALevering I've thought a lot about making a bunch and setting up an etsy shop. Just a bunch of different fossil-themed things, but now I'm too busy with work. π
